Good to see Sony is still supporting the 800 series. I was worried for quite a while.

Still wish they could update the android OS, though...

Hi! Who knows how to install the firmware is not in their region?

I am in the US and my F807 detected the 1.12 update automatically.  So I am guessing the roll out maybe slower in your area but it should come.

The one thing I've noticed is that upon power cycling the unit, it no longer starts with the first song in the list of song titles after refreshing the database. Now it resumes from the last song played. Then again, I haven't tested it by adding or removing FLAC files from the device so I'll have to test this out.

Aside from that, I haven't experienced any performance issues, though the WiFi is inherently weak in this little thing.

Does anyone know whether you can still buy silicon cases for the NWZ-F806?

I have had a quick look to no avail, though admit haven't made a choir out of it.

the only place i have seen them for sale is from japanese vendors on ebay and they aren't cheap ($29 + $15 for shipping (which is at least expedited) nonetheless $44 for a silicone case is a bit much imo. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181072555774?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

and recently i've seen cases for the F880 series for much cheaper about six dollars, and while i am not sure if it would fit ,chances are it might and is loads less expensive although they don't have them in the clear skin, only opaque colors

Thank you very much for the info.

That's a fairly hefty price indeed, I like my walkman though not quite that much. I'll do some comparing on google images, see if we can the cheaper case to line up.

I think there's a better solution now that the latest update introduced a DLNA client. The only thing is, I don't believe there's a DLNA server in a portable drive just yet but I'm still searching. In any case, I'm contemplating even a low end Synology unit or otherwise perhaps the Corsair Air Voyager with its own custom app, though its functionality is debatable.

Edit: Scratch that. When I eventually fly back home, I'm going to experiment with Seagate's Wireless Plus portable drive which has the built-in DLNA server. This could well be it.

Seems that my theory on the Seagate Wireless Plus drive worked. :)

Now to work out a neat way to install it in the car in a semi-permanent fashion so that I can either add files in situ or easily remove it to take to my computer or NAS.
