Similarly, cheaper digital class D's (such as Sony S-Master and TI's) go on to show that at practical price and complexity levels, performance is quite abysmal (better than 0.1% THD is unusual and be sure it ain't just third harmonic!)
Not everything can be measured really. I went down the that road before and you better off trusting your ears than every single measurement. Some time it takes a really resolving transducer to discern the difference. I'm quite confident that the iPhone 5s will measure better than many topend tube headphone amps out there. Even Tyll of Innerfidelity admitted to this.
The lack of card readers in Apple products is why I don't use any of my iDevices as a source for music - they just don't have enough storage. There are some Android mobile phones out there that have card readers, though...
