Recently bought this, well, contributed to my own present, and replaced my iPod Touch 4G (finally!) and reignited my musical love affair with Sony. Very happy with the sound, and that finally after lots of years of frustration at the market being dominated by Apple, now there is again a choice.

Shove the eq's to max on matrix, use hi rez only, and your laughing.

how? if all effects are disabled when you use Hi-res or DSEE HX or your Walkman can play hi-re with effects? that would be envy

thank you for the link. I was expecting a little worst TBH, I guess that's what I get for making most of my AB tests with the X1. but it still goes with what most of us have been saying. if you use a headphone/IEM that isn't victimized by the 4ohm output, and doesn't need much power, the sound will be fine.

Too much ifs for my taste.

Even more when taking into account that Sony invented the portable audio and has been an innovator and a game changer of the consumer electronics arena for the decades. I expect more from Sony. And i guess shareholders as well since their financial results border bankruptcy lately.

No, you can set your sound in general, then choose either dseehx, hi-rez or clear audio. I prefer hi-rez for my tastes. It goes very well with sony iems, like the xb90ex, or even better the H3.

the hi-rez option when turned ON is taking hires files and downsample them so that you can then activate some other DSP effect(that wouldn't work on hires files). it does nothing by itself except downsampling the hires tracks.

Any of you Sony A10 series owners know what it sounds like compared to a rockboxed iPod Classic (6th Generation with Cirrus Logic chip)? Bass/mids/highs and soundstage/neutrality/warmth.

Also, what's the output impedance of this thing? Can't find it in the specs. Thanks!
