Actually, I was there.. Those good old days of dubbing from various tapes, CDs etc! Now it's just that you'd need a laptop, etc to search online & transfer.. Sometimes you just need to listen to that one track on the go.. :)
Funny thing about piracy is that most music shops in the old days sold blank tapes at the counter next to the till and high speed dubbing was a common feature on twin cassette stereos

lol Thee lady that worked in my nearby music shop used to make copies of the tapes for half the price. Later she was even doing CD to tape copies. I miss those days.

Just found some time to do a little comparison between ZX300 + Oriolus BA300S and ALO CDM with my EX100 + Forza hybrid 4.4. EX1000 sounds great with both, but I came to conclusion that Oriolus is a better amp for them. Better and a litter fuller low end (remind me of WM1A), fuller soundstage, and better depth than CDM. I don't have to tell You that it rises ZX300 to another level overall.

Quick couple of questions -

I'm having issues with Bluetooth not being found on devices. I've tried my Mi8 phone, Huawei tablet and parent's iPhone. None can seem to see the player. Any ideas or pointers?

Also, if updating firmware do you have to rockbox the unit again?

Cheers

For the first one, you need to enter Bluetooth Receiver first (icon next to DAC) then press Add Device (pairing).

Oh ***! Thanks. Hadn't noticed that one as I'm never that far back in the menu....

Too easy mate. I had to consult the menu and then some to figure out which button it was. In hindsight, it's actually the best place to put the button.

Hi guys,
still looking for new headphones for my ZX300. Currently I'm using the ATH-M50x.
I've been looking at the HD660s or the Z7M2. Though I'm not sure if open back is something I could appreciate. Any other ideas? Would prefer something with a closed back, but I'm open for any suggestions.

Definitely not Z7M2.. Warm sounding DAP doesn't match well with much "muffled" headphones.. :frowning2:

I see you've got both the MSR7b and the 1AM2. How are your impressions with those? Could you compare them to the M50x?
I haven't tried M50x but I know from many reviews, it's quite flat.. As for 1AM2 & MSR7b, they are on opposite end of each other.. 1AM2 has deep bass, ok mids & rolled-off treble with deep soundstage.. Where as MSR7b has sufficient bass, vocal-leaning mids & generous but unhurting treble with wide soundstage.. IMHO they complement each other..

I tried the HD660s and thought they were a good match for the ZX300, although I wanted closed and went with the Denon D5200 (secondhand). I also briefly tried the 1AM2 and thought they were nice, but something like the HD660s would be a step up.

Sure you're not thinking of the Z7? The M2 is much less dark.

Hey everyone, I know from experience that one must listen to a DAP for personal experience, but I am looking at the ZX300 and can't find one locally to audition. I'd like to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the Pono and to the A45. Is it a huge improvement over the A45? Is it comparable to or better than the Pono?

Thanks in Advance.
