To those wondering whether or not Sony is about to showcase new Walkmen at this year's IFA, the answer is yes. Sony will announce the third generation of the well known A-Series and also the WM1-series, which I feel very excited about.

I personally doubt that the WM-1 will be the successor to the ZX2, though. I'm afraid that Sony is not planning on developing high-end DAPs anytime soon.

What makes you think that?

It's been 2 years since the ZX2 was announced. So far there has not been a single hint that Sony will replace this DAP with a new flagship model. I'm guessing that the WM1 will be part of the W-series family (W, WH, WS), meaning that it will be a headphone based DAP. Such a device is very unlikely to beat the ZX2 in terms of sound quality.

I'd like you and Sony to prove me wrong!

I don't think the ZX2 is capable of using as an external USB DAC. Only the AK can i believe

I wish ZX2 could because I love how my AK380 works with my 2016 MacBook.

The Sony BCR-NWH10 Docking Station works very well for connecting the ZX2 to either a DAC or Computer and allows charging at the same time. I'm using one at the moment as I type.
I also use an NWH10 cable, but prefer the dock.
Bit of a pain that I had to direct import both from Japan though. What is Sony playing at?

yeah, it's brilliant.

I wish there was a way to swap OS to ZX100 version. I hate the Android OS.

I can't imagine volume capped version because my U.S. unit is already low volume enough when using beyer T1 600 Ohms headphones.

I rarely interact with the OS, only the player. Would the Sony OS change the interface with the player itself?

It would, but Walkman OS had always been the easiest and friendliest for devices :D. Beside, it was made for music and efficiency.......aka....no music deforming or degrading and not running background trash that drain away the battery life

OK if it is more battery efficient I'm on board. Walkman OS. Smaller size. Same battery life. Same sound.
