SONY NW-ZX2

Pre-order is available on US website if anyone's interested.

Better to wait until it's on Amazon or some other online retailer, then you don't have to pay sales-tax. I believe you'll have to pay sales tax through the Sony site. Given the price of this thing, that'll save you about 100 bucks.

You are going to end up with bill for the damage you do to the fence. Your memory unit is going to be affected unless it is Toshiba.

This is an interesting discussion about memory and sound.

Lately everything I buy from Amazon is taxed no matter where it comes from. What is with that?

Still waiting on my ZX2. . . .

Perhaps you live in a state that has started demanding sales tax from online retailers.

No tax when buying from B&H.

Well what do you know, my old trusty iPod literally died on me today. Turns on, then shuts off again, turns on, then shuts off right away. And I just charged the battery last night. Weird. Guess now I'm really in the market for a new DAP.

The ZX2 is very tempting, I especially like the added built-in memory and the long battery life. But the price is ridiculous. Maybe I'll get an A17 + Oppo HA-2 combo.

So I just got a notice that my ZX2 is supposed to ship tomorrow from Price Japan. Keeping my fingers crossed. And, I hope I like the sound. Seems like from descriptions it is very good and rock solid. Will be interesting to compare to the DX90 and so on.

Glad to see the ZX2 will officially be available in the U.S.  I never quite understood why the ZX1 never was.  For a company as big as Sony, we shouldn't have to jump through hoops to purchase.  I mean, for a small company, I can understand.  I'm not in the DAP market right now, but I am still interested in reading impressions, and hopefully someone will post battery life when using the WM port merely as a lineout to an external amp (not DAC).  I was previously interested in the ZX1, but reportedly poor battery life when using lineout made that an easy decision to avoid.

I hope Crutchfield will offer the ZX2.  Gotta like the 60-days return period as this will allow the product to be tested out thoroughly.
