SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

If using BT LDAC Best with say an A55 vs 1AM2/1ZM2 should it be same to some Sony WF-1000XM4? (with Sony Music App).

Off course wired connections will differ.
Exactly. If you're using LDAC, the data send to the WF-1000XM4 will be identical. The DAC/Amp circuit inside the WF-1000XM4 will be used then, so the sound will be the same.

Of course, the same with an Computer or an Smartphone

Some in the thread (not naming names) seems to think BT out of high-end Sony's is better. Only reason I ask.

Why am i not surprised about this^^.

But no, the LDAC Encoder is Free/Libre Software. You can look at its sourcecode and you can see the LDAC specification.

If it sounds different from an High End Sony DAP, the DAP is broken.

Sony even doesn't use its own implementation on the M2 but the implementation done by Google made for AOSP (the one that also Linux uses, no surprise there of course)

https://github.com/EHfive/ldacBT

//Correction: The Implementation in AOSP is based on the source from Sony and the main contributor is Sony. So even though it is hosted and managed by Google, the Code is written by Sony. So Sony does use its own code... more or less^^

Bluetooth is never good …unless you want to breathe in Radiation polluted air, may be the conductivity over the air will improve and Bluetooth sound better than wired. Maybe Chernobyl is the best place to use Bluetooth 🤣

A joke btw. Mark this down, so once nuclear fall out happens, we can discuss further in the bunker…I mostly won’t be here 🤣🤣

Don't need a new DAP, but always tempted by Sony built quality and I love their Walkman Music app.

Has anyone with IE900 using the 1AM2? Can it drive them well?

Sorry i'm just not good at reading technical data.

At 3.5mm, it would be loud enough to be very unpleasent and make you most likely deaf, but not kill them.
At 4.4mm, it would have enough power to easily kill them in a matter of seconds (on full volume, high gain).

So long as its not the EU crippled version!

Using the WF-1000XM4 I’m certainly not able to detect any differen using A55 or 1Z as source. That said aac from my iPhone also sounds really good but the Sony’s probably do have an edge

I just bagged a new A50 from Japan for a low price, as always curious, plus able to try the custom firmware.

Something else to play with in addition to the Hiby R5G2 I've got coming until A1M2 comes in stock at Amazon Japan again.

I can hear LDAC Best sounding nicer than iPhone AAC, but fine on iPhone too. Not got any DAP's at the moment, just a BTR5.

Always remember to invest in Earphone/Headphone first

Only have the 3 wired ones now as per my sig., Noble K10U, Shure SE846 and Fiio FD7.

Can't get on with headphones, just IEM's
Before getting an WM1, I would first lay my eyes at an XBA-Z5 or, even better, IER-M7/IER-M9

I've been looking into IER-M9 but you really think thats better than the Noble K10U (or Encore now)?

Only got the Fiio FD7 Berilium Dynamic recently and for the cost they are fabulous, but K10U still my best for sound quality across the range but other two smaller and more comfortable to wear.

It’s different for the WM1ZM2 and WM1AM2, these support DSEE Ultimate over Bluetooth(encoded signal).

I couldn't hear any difference with DSEE on vs off wired anyway (ZX507) so be a non issue for me.
