Demand was really low. Nobody was buying, but now everyone wants one.

Didn't I read that Sony actually lost money on every pair they sold because of the high cost of materials?

These have nice shine, but there are also pictures of "before TLC" in their box, which more looks like the R10 we know.
 
Your pair is now very unique, and great looking.
 
 
Actually I'm frickin' happy there are still people who wants to remember, and continue using such headphones.
 
Usually when you're reading about a R10 on Head-Fi you're located in 2004-2005 threads.
