for 100 they are immaculate. Just get them, chance of regretting is small, get a pair of brainwavz hybrid pads too, I recommend them a lot, they improve sq drastically imo.

You too, they become a real hidden gem when paired with these pads :)
i would want to see if they would hold 10-12 years like ma900 did for me, also just paid for ath-r50x a 100.- on auction! a frickin' steal. Can allow myself another 100-150 on auction this week, too many good things about mv1 lately, lol.

Yes I actually don’t miss the MDR-Z1R when I have the MDR-MV1 with Brainwavz sheepskin pads (have not tried the hybrid) and the balanced Sony Kimber cable

uhh.... that will take you 10 years of dedication just to see if you could've enjoyed something all the time along the way..? I'm confused. in 10-12 years better things will come out, probably.

I would any day of the week for any matter take the mdr mv1 over the ath m50x unless isolation is needed. it is not close and shouldn't be a comparison.

true over the last 10 years there were many cans that gone better, also never tried to punch above 200.- price myself, probably didn't discover better gems, though ma900 was hard to part ways with all this time, heh, maybe mv1 could open my eyes to something. Oh no no, because I don't disturb people around me, i choose mostly open backs so R50x caught my attention very quick, not m50x :)

After received and listened to Audiotechnica r50x, i am starting to think i don't need to go for MDR-MV1, lol, r50x sound so busy, with intimate and prominent vocals, yet laid back and satisfying and are too comfortable on head, if you can say so :)

Sony MUC-S12NB1 Cable compared to 2 Studio Grade Cables and 1 Audiophile Grade Cable.

1. Sony MUC-S12NB1 - Diameter 3.8mm Conductor: most likely 26 AWG / 0.15mm² (or smaller). Twisted Pair, Multi Gauge, Silver Plated OFC.

2. Mogami 2893 - Diameter 4.8mm Conductor: 26 AWG / 0.15mm². Star Quad, Shielded OFC.

3. Mogami 2534 - Diameter 6.0mm Conductor: 24 AWG / 0.22mm². Star Quad, Shielded OFC.

4. Canare 4S8G - Diameter 8.3mm Conductor: 16 AWG / 1.27mm². Star Quad, OFC.

Thoughts from back to back tests.

Althou I did replace 6.3mm Plug on stock MDR-M1ST Cable with 4.4mm Brass Pentaconn Plug and high grade Silver containing audio Solder, it sounds not that impressive. No comments at this time.

Sony MUC-S12NB1 Cable is, overall, a solid top choice. Silver Plating its Copper conductors delivers more details and in higher frequencies range. Details that sparkle, making it fun and musical, yet accurate and precise. Lower than usual noise floor is noticeable. Bass has a good punch to it. Vocals sound natural and at correct distance. Favorite thing about this Cable is how good it looks, how it sounds and how easy it is to use.

Mogami 2893 engineering features all add up to some impressive result. Shielding makes its background pitch black, no hissing, no hum, nothing - that makes a lot of quiet micro details become audible. It has incredible clarity and depth. Excellent Soundstage size and instruments placement. Not holographic imaging, but close. It is not Silver Plated, so even thou it has more audible details, most of them are in mid and mid high frequencies, it doesn't sparkle as bright as Sony MUC-S12NB1. I'm almost certain 2893 has larger diameter conductors, maybe that's why on it bass has more power in it. Just a little thicker than Sony, makes this Cable very easy to use.

Mogami 2534 is noticeably better in power in bass; bigger soundtage; more details. Not in your face better that 2893, but mildly noticeable.

Both are good: 2893 is not as thick and is more flexible - easier to handle. 2534 is thicker, not as flexible, torsionally rigid but sounds a little better.

Listened to Sony MUC-S12NB1 Cable after 2534 and:

  1. Sony seems to have more details in high frequencies, extending higher. 2534 has sounds like it has more details in mids and mid-highs, they just don't extend as far into treble.
  2. You can feel and hear that the bass slam, volume and energy is better on 2534.

First moments listening to Sony Cable again in a while made me feel very happy I have it. It is fun. Very good Cable.

Canare 4S8G has better bass, punchier, stronger: Sony MUC-S12NB1 bass is more restrained.

4S8G bass is better, vocals are better, as much details as Silver Plated Sony ( ! ) with deeper and wider soundstage, sounds more spacious.

Just raw, effortless, unristricted fire hose cable - very impressed overall. Impressively much more flexible than it looks.

But: THICK.

Like Sony MUC-S12NB1 Cable a lot actually. Overall, this Cable, custom Black Bushing, Yaxi StPad2 Eear Pads - make it endgame everyday Headphones for me. They look, feel and sound incredible.

Along with M1, very good headphones indeed for most genres. They remind me slightly of 109 Pro, but less sizzle and a bit more mid-bass bloom. Not exactly "v shaped," as I read time and again. I would be tempted to pad roll to lower the mid-bass a little, but the pads are so comfortable and I can only imagine the tone would be skewed with anything other than stock pads. Even easier to drive than M1 and not fussy with any source, though scaling up nicely with Lotoo GT2. Good job, Sony :ok_hand:

After listening to the Meze 109 Pro at a headphone event, I was tempted to buy. But then discovered the MV1 and immediately proceeded to buy it considering the price difference and the huge discounts that are currently available.
Suffice to say, the MV1 does indeed have a lot of similarities to the wonderful 109 Pro. At the current price it’s the steal of the year in full size headphones IMO. Scales quite well with better source apparently. Current desktop setup with Shanling & SPL is a wonderful pairing.
Have also paired it with iBasso DC Elite for a crystal-clear and clean sounding transportable setup at home & office.

Cheers
