SONY IER-Z1R

I just ordered on amazon a second hand IER-Z1R as I really want to know if rather good IEMs (less than 2K$) can reach the sound quality of my Headphones by Heddp or Z7M2. They are both making ears too "hot" and sweaty after a few hours.

As it won't buy it new, I would like to buy some new tips, so I am wondering if there are any better after market tips for the Sony IER-Z1R?
Is it worth to give a try to another made than Sony, as I suppose sound can be significantly impacted by the tips, but I want comfortable one that I can use more than 3 hours. I can't use memory foam tips (melonia 1 and Airpods Pro), as my ears canals get far too irritated at the end of a single day.
What can be improved with other made ?.
Basically, I don't really like Sony as a brand, but I must admit that little by little I am using mostly, with great pleasure, the WM1A (MrWalkman Z++ firmware) and the Z7M2 at the office (More than Hiby R6Pro/Fiio M11/Cambridge audio Melonia 1/Apple Airpods Pro).
So, these last months, I have some doubt using other brands for Hires sound matter. But I think I have read somewhere that some brand was making really good and comfortable silicone tips
The Final E tips are good. I've used them for quite awhile on various IEMs.
Recently, the Xelastec is my favorite. Be aware that these need a smaller size. Where I always used the Final E LL size, I found that the ML is what worked for the Xelastec.

The Z1R is still in stock at "Moon Audio", a retailer in the United States.
I just ordered one today. :relaxed:

Thank you for sharing! Custom molded is great. I have 2 CIEMs from 8-10 years ago, but didn’t know you could get just the ear tips.

Hi everyone,

Part PSA and request for some detective work about the Sony Kimber Kable MUC-M12SB1. Also hope this is the right place to post, as I am guessing there are some IER-Z1R owners who also use this cable.

Background: ordered a cheap cable as a spare from eBay from a listing like the one below:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/4-4mm-Bala...232792?hash=item3b115ac8d8:g:X4wAAOSwkKBbJkwe

Can any MUC-M12SB1 owners compare their cables with my comparison shots below? The "Green genuine cable" is one I imported from a Japanese electronics retailer (boxed and new).

Many thanks!

Fairly confident you'll get an authentic cable. I appears that one of the fakes ship with boxes. I've also compared the MMCX cores on the the IER-Z1R cables and they all have the white teflon base in the center. The same applies to the any genuine Sony MMCX cable too (MUC series, XBA stock cables, etc).

Ho, fakes heh, I didn't consider that before, there are a couple listings for the Muc-m12sb1 locally, and they're priced around the same as your ebay link, some are even cheaper by 25%.
I'm so glad I didn't decide to pick it and chose to go custom for my replacement cable instead.

IER-Z1R is available at select retailers here in the States. Other retailers here say they’re “back ordered.” If anyone else has any indication they may be discontinued, please do tell. I haven’t heard anything yet here supporting this besides a single shop owner in Spain who made a call to Sony Spain..
yeah totally. I got back to the shop and asked them to call Sony again ... said these are def not discontinued. Honestly I think the shop just wants to sell me a Solaris at this point but I am going to hang true as I am a ****ing sony fanboii!!
