Wow, can't believe you said that. Huge low blow to my insecure and toxic masculinity. Thankfully though, I have already switched over to listening World™ music. So much better and more masculine than three women singing over heavy metal.

There was a advertising spot in the past that end with "its a Sony"... If it was Jmills8 doing it it ends with "its a anti-Sony" )

The more I hang around audiophile forums the more I believe "not enough power" is just a thing people say when they can't find the proper words to describe why they don't like the sound and must attribute it to some external cause.
Over the weekend I attended a talk session at Sony Ginza store featuring the engineers of the IER-Z1R, I tried the Z1R out of my 1Z and I didn't need more than 65 clicks on low gain balance. Some other attendees asked the acoustic engineer Kuwahara-san regarding the same impressions that the Z1R is difficult to drive and/or the 1Z is insufficient and he said the WM1Z was used extensively as a reference Sony player when tuning the IER-Z1R, and the other player he used was the PCM-D100 DSD capable voice recorder which has a reputation for having great sound but if you check the specs the headphone output of that unit is a measly 25mW SE output. So maybe you just don't like what sound signature they are going for but there's pretty much no way that a 1A or 1Z would be under-powered within the vision of the engineers.
And as we know they are designed to be matched together. I believe you get the feeling that the 1Z and IER-Z1R are matched for use.
The 1A also has wonderful synergy. In my uses the 1A has not met a more complementary and flattering IEM until the IER-Z1R arrived. This same statement most likely is true too for the 1Z.

Tried it with iPhone and dongle, don’t like it as the sound kinda off. Ppl said I need better source blablabla.
Tried it again with SP1000m, exact impression but improved slightly in SQ. Initial issue remain on sound tonality.
In my opinion, if IEM (meant for portable use) cant be driven optimumly out of portable device ie phones, it’s designed poorly.

Let's agree to completely disagree. In my opinion, if IEM (meant for portable use) cant be driven optimumly out of portable device ie phones, it’s designed poorly.
Source is just as critical as an iem, and both are just as important as the quality of the recording.
If you wanna cheap out on 1 or more parts of the audio chain, that is your prerogative, but don't blame the equipment.

Power requirement of an iem with 2dd + 1ba surely more than iem with 1dd, no?
