Same here, I’ve been a long time fan of Senny and Sony, just a tad bit longer for the latterWould like to hear about comparison between these 2 Kings
But if we just look at the graphs, tuning has similarities but it comes down to the IE900 having a definitive focus in the sub-bass while also offering a “less” energetic lower/treble. People that had trouble with the Z1R’s treble might like the IE900 a bit more.
I’m really excited to hear the new IE900.
Since single DDs are making quite the return, I’m kinda hoping for Sony to bring in a true successor to the EX1k, that huge single 16mm DD is still quite legendary, but I’m sure with how their tech is now, they could definitely improve upon the tuning to their current standards.

The Z1R is a very coherent IEM - I'm failing to see an advantage of a single DD versus the Z1R (unless the IE900 mids are significantly better). I too would love to see a proper 16mm DD - that size seems to deliver a lot of richness....Same here, I’ve been a long time fan of Senny and Sony, just a tad bit longer for the latter

As I am a IER-Z1R and Beyerdynamic Xelento every day user (for Office Z1R, for slipping Xelento), I would say that response curve is far to show the listenable difference between my two IEM .. With some EQ we can compensate more or less the curves .. but unfortunately not the distortion, nor the speed of the impacts.
IER-Z1R can give appropriate fast and clear with details in most of the low frequencies impacts, the Xelento can't !!! In short IER-Z1R is mostly rarely muddy, while the Xelento is more often though I like it too.
I really want to hear the IE900, but, I imagine it will be nearer the Xelento than the Z1R. They should measure real speed at any frequencies and distortion too. Maybe it would have more sense to compare the 3 curves than only the frequency response (which is important but far to be enough to approach differences).

To tell the truth, I doubt it will be a game changer, but I really like the idea of a big improvement with three Helmholtz resonator chambers and acoustic vortex ..
As far I can catch huge difference between ear tips with the same IEM, I believe Sennheiser, Focal, Hedd, Ultrasone have the technology to analyze the impacts of each chamber, that chi-fi firms won't probably have...
Maybe I am wrong.. but interesting to wait and see.

DO sony have fairly reliable release cycles for TOTL IEMS? I am only in the game since 2010 so remember XBA Z5 was 2014 and IER Z1R was 2017 right? Means we're a year behind now?

I cleaned my IER’s for the first time and seen some wax (yuck) inside the hole when I removed the tips. When I was trying to clean out the wax I felt like I pushed something down or in. Made me really worried until I played them and they sound ok. I’m not sure what I did, but I didn’t feel good. Felt like I did something wrong.
