SONY IER-Z1R

I agree with this. Most of the connector issues, iirc, were because of third party cables. The stock connectors are the easiest to remove, while most third party connectors need to almost be forced out. That can't be good. To date Z1R is the only IEM I use with the original stock cable, not only because I think it's an excellent cable tuned for the intended sound of the IEM, but also to avoid any unnecessary damage.

PS. The OG cable can still be bought for ~$150 from spares shops, which makes them very good value, even cheap, in the crazy world of cable prices.
Yep, or ~$60 in Southeast Asia :) In the US, Sony Encompass has them for $131 (I'm not affiliated!) ... https://sony.encompass.com/item/12434619/Sony/1-912-774-21/

If you're happy with stock cable quality, no brainer to get a spare.. If the spare I ordered works, probably will get a 1 more 4.4mm and 1 more 3.5mm just for posterity.. Who knows when they become discontinued, like those Kimber cables..

A thousand pages and the discussion is still going strong, I’m loving my pair they are the best IEM’s I’ve owned and I don’t see myself buying anything else for a long while. I have considered buying an extra balanced stock cable due to my carelessness I dropped the plug while cleaning them and have a small nick on the top but other than that they are working perfectly and pair pretty damn well with my ZX707.

The authorised dealer for Sony spare part in Australia has some, but if you are willing, look into Brise Audio BSEP Z1R.
I used to stock cable for a long time until I got to try this particular Brise audio cable.

Thanks. Not a fan of Brise cables and very happy with the performance and ergo of the stock cable. I have several kilobuck cables on other IEMs, so I'm not a cable holdout, I just prefer Z1R as pure as Sony intended.

Any idea where they can be had for $60?
Aliexpress when they have sales it goes to around that price, if you think they are fake or not that's up to you, I bought one and noticed no difference in sound feel and looks than the authorized dealer one I bought before it for a little over twice the price(both came with the little plastic mmcx protectors on, same little ziplock looking baggy for the connector 4.4/3.5mm etc) both made in China of course

Yes I swapped cables but I do swap cables with every IEM I have. This should not be an excuse. The right side has bad intermittent connection now. I have lived long enough to know if a product is built well or not, and the IE200 is a bad, cheaply made IEM.
A year ago I got the IE300 and IE600 and from following the threads, there were a significant amount of MMCX issues, even people who only used the stock cable. A few months after selling my IE600 the guy had to get a replacement when one side cut out. The IE200 was a later release, I wonder if the issue still hasn't been sorted with their connectors.

After shipping and tax, I got a $152.05 price, still not bad.

However, now I am using Z1R with Effect Audio code 24, it is simply amazing!

I can confirm it hasn't been sorted.

Welp, I've tried Spinfits, Sedna Earfit Crystals, HifiGo Divinus, Final E, and Spring tips, and none of them were quite as good as stock tips for me rip. Guess it's time to shell out for stock tips and cable.

Cool. Have one on order now so looking forward to hearing it, hopefully it's comfortable enough!

i'd say the ergo is kinda poor. its a stiff cable and doesn't loop over ears nicely without adjustment every now and then.

but what has been heard cannot be unheard and its just simply the most enthralling entertaining combo....
Tempted, but for $900, I will have to pass unless I can find a used one.
