But the link to the music on that page isn't too impressive..  Does anyone know on the HD clips what kind of trans(?) coding is going on for the audio stream?

thanks, helpfukl!

Hey, here's what it should be like right now:

1080p & 720p - 192 kbps AAC
360p & 480p - 128 kbps AAC
240p - 60 kbps MP3

Wow, this album is able to coax a good deal of bass out of the K501s. Not to mention the soundstage is utterly fantastic.

You cannot forget to listen to this song:

Amazing Soundstage!

I like Lemuria and Sirius B albums from Therion. Especially a song called "The wondrous world of punt" Once I was walking on the street with my brother's new Yamaha EPH-100, listening to that song, what can I say? Excellent sound quality + great music + good isolation, I think heaven could be that way!

I have been listening to some Florence & The machine songs with my He500s and I really enjoyed 'No light, no light' , espacially when the music starts to really kick in at about 1:00

Another one that sounds fantastic on the K501s.

It's interesting that the K501s are tonally pretty similar to the K601s, yet make certain albums sound waaaay better. This one sounds particularly good because acoustic guitars are so prominent. The arrangements are also pretty big, so both of these things fit well with the K501s. "Bunkhouse Theme" is particularly great sounding.

I wonder if there's a way to make it more 'portable'.  There's many apps for downloading videos off of youtube, and some for making mp3's out of youtube videos... but would be better if there's a way to split the audio out without having to transcode to another lossy format.

If any of you here love Neo-Progressive Rock or just Prog in general, you have to check out Steven Wilson solo stuff and his band Porcupine Tree, best new Prog out there, IMHO, recently they have received a lot of praise & awards, but I don't think it will change them, I hope not! Also another very interesting Prog band that has kind of reformed their sound the last few years is Anathema, 2 bothers, & brother & sister! Very good stuff of you like airy, ethereal music!
Both bands are from the UK and I have been huge fans of theirs going on 7 years now. Steven Wilson is probably considered by most in the industry to be the most prolific 5.1 producer and eclectic song writer! Kind of Pink Floyd meets Rush & King Crimson.
Wilson just helped Robert Fripp remaster and mix King Crimsons first few prolific masterpieces, including a very good 5.1 mix on DVD Audio.
If you really want to see Wilson's production and song expertise, look at clips out there on YouTube of the lnewest ((Porcupine Tree) live concert recording on Blu-ray in Europe, Anethetize! It is, again IMHO, the best live audio/visual presentation ever put on Blu-ray or DVD! (Maybe the new Led Zeppelin comes close, as those guys put out a great live recording at the O2 Center in the UK!) P.T.'s & Anathema's music is also especially satisfying on great headphones, because of the talent level and great production of their recordings!
If you like Ethereal Progressive Rock, and never heard of them, you R missing out! Tell me what you think?
