28 pages and amazing nobody has mentioned the 25th Anniversary Edition of Deep Purple's Machine Head yet. As far as encapsulating a rock performance this is the best thing I know of. Close your eyes and listen to Lazy, and you will open them and be surprised not to see the band right there in front of you, it sounds that good.

If any of you have heard this and know of a heavy metal album that sounds better, please tell me what it is!

with me this would probably just be a list of songs that make ME go wooooooow.

but if I had to pick one, it would be Hold Your Colour by Pendulum. Even on the crap phones I'm wearing right now the deliciously well produced DnB track resonates through my head and never fails to give me some warm fuzzies.

so far, in the 8 hrs I've had these things, the one song that has really made my k701s sound amazing is the studio version of the video games live orchestra playing kingdom hearts.. everyone that has been like wow why did you spend all that money, I've had them put the headphones on and I played them the song.. most of them asked where to buy them!

Some 'reference' tracks I use when I upgrade something. The first one is really a defacto for me. I get instant eargasms if the strings are well separated.

The latter are for reproduction of midrange and bass for most.
* Angelo Badalamenti - Mulholland Drive / Love Theme (from the soundtrack of course)
* Pink Floyd - One of These Days, Echoes, Time

Then some tracks I like to listen via headphones and they perform their best (ie. those tracks that do qualify for this thread)
* Mike Oldfield - Hergest Ridge (pt 2) / Crises / Amarok
* Tangerine Dream - Madrigal Meridian
* Windir - Journey to the End

Hot damn, can't remember more. There are so much good music in general that make my headphones go 'woow' but as they also apply to my speaker rig, so they're not that headphone-specific.

I was just listening to some stuff from Armin van Buuren (an electronic dance, Trance artist) that can really test your the overall fullness of your headphones! My Lafayette cans can really punch out the bass from these tracks.
