Hello everyone,

I am out here because I would like your opinions on getting a headphone that fits my criteria.

Alright my budget is under AUD300 and what I want in this headphone is that it needs to be:

1) comfortable ( will be wearing it for 3+ hours)
2) leak proof (really important since I will be listening to it in quite places)
3) good for music and movies
4) good looking (optional)

Portability is not a concern. I don't care about built quality, I take extreme care of my electronics

I listen to pop, rock, old music. Movies and tv shows are my thing too :)

Kind regards,

What kind of music do you like? Headphones vary in sound signature and some suit certain styles of music better than others.

I would suggest the M80 or DT1350. Both are very portable, I find them both to be comfortable for long sessions ( DT1350 moreso), both isolate well and have minimal sound leakage (DT1350 moreso), the M80 looks great and has iDevice cable included. The M80 is darker sounding and one of the least fatiguing headphones I've heard, the DT1350 is a little brighter but still very easy to listen to.

Thanks a lot for your advice mate, but I dont like the design. It looks like they will be sitting on my ear. I dont like that. I prefer a headphone which completely covers my ears. Size/portability is not a big problem.

I don't really have an opinion on the M100 as I'm yet to hear them. Early reviews from the pre-release batch seem mixed. I'll definitely give them a listen once the madness subsides a little.

I will get V-Moda M100 when they come out!

Also, any advice on headphones for desktop use?

Will only be using them for movies. I dont want to buy an amp or anything. Just want to plug them in when watching movies.
Price range is the same. There should be NO sound leak for this as well.

Budget could be extended to AUD400

Thanks in advance :)

The Denon D2000, D600, Pro900 and Sony MDR01 are recommended for desktop use and they all offers great sound quality for movies and music.

How about the DT770 Pro? I can't comment on the sound as I've never heard them, but I did have some 880's and they were THE most comfortable headphone I've ever worn.

I have the DT770 pro, and these are by far the most comfortable headphones ive had the pleasure of putting on. although you do need an amp to get the most out of them.

I found the DT 770 very comfortable. It's a also closed-back design.

I don't have them any longer and can't comment on how much they actually leak. At the time, I didn't care.

I think an amp is needed to get the most out of any headphone over $150-$200 but yeah the DT770 80 and 250ohm are a little harder to drive but there is the LE 32ohm out right now, those would be great
