Can you please provide me which components are of lesser quality? I don't have a dog in this fight, but when I look at both of these models spec wise, I don't see an advantage that the Topping has over the S.M.S.L. thank you in advance.

Indeed i based myself on the mqa-less D90. Well, i dont care for the mqa hype, therefore i would go D90 and pay 70 dollars less. But yeah, if the person wants mqa, it can be worthy.

About the quality of the components: Would need an expert open them both and analyze the components.
The measurement reviews on asr and other websites are a nice start and helpful, but don't tell complete unvarnished truth.
Some things can't be measured with equipment and some forums members are fanatics going nuts when something measures 2 db worse
At such low mid-tier prices, topping and smsl usually cheap out on components as the power supply, transistors, capacitors, connectors etc.

Its is around 3-4db lower distortion than Topping D90 with better Bluetooth bandwidth

thank you, same Xmos micro controller XU216-512-TQ128-C20 that the D90 MQA is using. Single AKM AK4499EQ Implementation as the D90. The biggest difference I see just from a glance is the power supply implementation choice.

Their are short coming with smsl that they neglect to mention.
Like on the 200, if you have have the volume at a value less than 9 o'clock. Their is a very noticeable channel imbalance.

This is not an issue with just 1 or 2 units. It's inherent in the pot itself.

I have to disagree as I find the smsl sp200 build quality to be excellent, especially for the price.
