Thank to all for the reply about leaving the SU1 on 24/7.

I'm using my MBP>microRendu> SU-1 KTE (i2s)>Spring KTE>BHSE>009 using JRiver MC-21.
This sounds so incredibly right, that it's wrong! After adding the SU1 KTE to the chain tonight and letting it run for about 5-6hrs I was immediately taken back by what I was heard when I started listening. Everything sounds like it's on a much grander scale! From the slam and control of percussion (and I mean slam that made me look at my rig in awe) and the clarity of the fine details which are extremely focused and clearly audible and the imaging and sound-stage is perceived in such a way I've never heard before. I'm actually afraid that I have reached the end! And I'm not kidding!

What I don't understand is when I had the SU1 (non-KTE no mR) in my chain previously, I didn't care for it. To be quite honest, I didn't think the i2s performed as well as the USB input did? Could it be the KTE mods to the SU1 making that much of a difference? Could it be the mR+KTE SU-1 combination? I don't know what the answer is right now, but I do know my system did not sound like this with my previous SU1 or I obviously wouldn't have eliminated it from my chain. For now I'm going to sit back in awe and enjoy my music. I definitely need to listen to all my options and find out as too why this is, and understand the reasons for what I'm hearing now that I didn't hear before.

I also see that you're using a MacBook pro. Mac OS is phenomenal, but I have found that windows consistently sounds better, even with the SU-1. I know this because I have Windows 10 on my MBP via Bootcamp. The difference is very noticeable, and as a result I run windows exclusively for my listening sessions. You should give it a shot, really.

Thanks for the advice, but I would never partition my MBP with Windows anything!

I went with a media bridge high speed hdmi cable from amazon. Works great, although I know some folks who splurged on an audio quest carbon, around a $100 or so

Used the HDMI cable as it is....No special termination required between the SU-1 and DAC?

Nope, just read the manual for the pin configuration depending on the dac you use. I have to turn pins 3 and 6 on for my Gustard for DSD. If you don't use DSD though, you are good from the get go regardless.
Also shorter is better apparently, but I heard no difference between my 3m and 0.5m cables. YMMV

LoryWiv I'm not using the singxer xmos usb driver, I'm using the Holo Audio usb driver.  It let me install the driver without having to turn off driver signature enforcement.  I also think it's what lets me play dsd in native mode instead of dsd over pcm.  This is the i2s cable recommended on teh su-1 owners thread...  heh I still think we need to consolidate this thread with that one

Some photos of the mR/SU-1 KTE.
I requested my Kitsune badges come separate from the SU-1. I took the "Kitsune" badge and placed it over the "Singxer" lettering with some Blu-tac so it can easily be removed. I haven't decided what I'm going to do with the fox badge or if I'n even going to put it on.

I figured it out, installed the Holo audio xmos driver and rebooted.. now I have up to 24/192 in the windows playback settings and dsd works.  this is the first time I ever got DSD native to work over asio!  playing Pixies - Doolittle in DSD128 Native asio right now :)

Link to this driver? All I get is dsd over pcm

EDIT: I am able to get up to dsd 256 native.

Awesome looking stack! Actually with your micro rendu I dont know if wondows would benefit you much. That uses an ethernet input right?
