May I ask did you find:
 
1.  The Shure SRH940 seemed suited to any particular genre?
 
2.  The Beyer DT770 250 Ohm happened to suit any particular genre?
 
3.  I too would like an opinion on:  "Which has brighter/harsher treble, SRH840 or DT880 250ohm?"
 
(I realise Q3. refers to the 880,  with me it's the 770)
What artists and composers were you listening to when you were comparing?
