What blue filter mod would give me the most bass and the least treble? As I understand it - removing all 2x foams from each side. Is this correct?
You're looking for the blue filter mod known officially as the 'black' filter

Removing the foams or pushing them down the blue filter tube will give you more treble, relative to the original (unaltered) blue filter.

Yep... you want the black filter for that. If you want EVEN MORE BASS, you can take the foams out of the blue filter and stuff them into the black one too. I have noticed though that the blue and white filters have a bit more of a bump at the bottom of the pinna gain, which makes vocals "pop" more in my opinion. This is due to the cloth at the bottom of the filter tube. If you prefer blue filter mids to black filter ones, you can take one or both foams from the black filter and add them to the blue one to get a bassier blue filter. If your issue with the black filter is it's too bassy and dark, you could try removing one of the bits of foam from it, or possibly replacing them with the foams from the blue filters.

The bits of foam just block higher frequencies, then you turn the volume up a little in response, effectively giving you a bass boost.
More foam higher up in the filter tube = less treble
Removing some foam or pushing it down the tube = more treble
Black filter foam is denser than blue filter foam and will therefore have a bigger effect. I'm pretty sure it's the exact same foam material, but the ones in the black filter are slightly larger bits so they squeeze more to go into the tube, and therefore end up being denser.

Pure conjecture, but looks like Shure might be getting ready to launch an Aonic 8; the 846 are now listed at £599 on their official site (3rd party dealers don't seem to be too keen on replicating this price, though). They've been full RRP since launch as far as I can remember.
535 and 425 reduced. I know the 535’s are not well regarded these days but a wired pair for £159 is tempting at that price. 425s are £129.00

Hoping you're right but still the same price here in the US. I have been resisting buying a second pair of SE846 to use as a true wireless version in hopes that a new version will come out in the next year or so. Picked up a B&W PI7 to hold me over for now on the true wireless front (and scratch my itch to upgrade something) but prefer the Shure sound signature. Hope they come out with an Aonic 8 soon.

Following your recommendations, finally got Dragonfly Cobalt. Pairs exceptionally well with se846.
I like it with all my IEM's, great choice!

The nozzle interface seals on my SE846 have finally worn away to nothing. I'm unsurprisingly having issues with bass. I've emailed Shure, but I understand the seals aren't user-replacable. This is going to be even more of the issue once production of the SE846 finishes.

I have also contacted a rubber manufacturing company to get a quote on having some made to order. I know I'm not the only person to have had this issue. I'm thinking of getting a whole bunch made, keeping a few spares for myself and selling the rest. Anyone interested?

Is it just a O-ring? If so your hardware store might have some if you measure the ID and OD you might be able to get something that works.

Yep, just an O-ring. But much smaller than any I can buy here in NZ. Need to get some calipers to measure exactly, but the width would be <1mm. Even the specialist manufacturers are muttering about whether they can make them.

The one the nuts screw down against. Any of the commercially available ones are far too fat, would result in the nut sitting a long way off the body. There may well be some appropriate ones out there, but not that anyone in NZ will sell me.
