Shure SE846 Impressions Thread

Evening
I just recieved my 846s today.
The few minutes I was able to listen was, well not impressive.
Very low bass and I'm not a bass person.
Maybe the tips but I was very disappointed.
Hope this changes for a iem that's nearly $1000

What was your previous IEM or headphone. If your coming from bass heavy IEM like JVC FX850, Aurisonic 2.5 with bass port open the SE846 bass will sound "bassless"

harsh!

Am confused by the low bass though, wonder if the poster means there is too much sub bass (as mentions is not a bass person)...

If so, swap in the white filters instead of the stock blue, and see what you feel

Seriously? It's a thousand dollar headphone. "The few minutes I was able to listen to it". Please.
Anyone who can really afford these gives them more than a few minutes. It's a troll at best.

My assumption was they arrived and he tested them out before life took him away (work, kids, dogs, who knows) and hasn't had a chance to really sit down with them long haul. Nothing major.

They are factory installed with neutral fiters. If I was going to buy £1,000 earphones I would make sure I knew what I was buying into. Also I would consider AKG K3003 as an alternative.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely ADORE these, but...

This is not neutral. It ends up being gorgeous because of the way the frequencies mix, but they're not neutral by any stretch.

Balanced is how shure describes them. Sound doesn't travel in a linear fashion. If your music sounds right then don't worry, be happy. (Cue Bobby McFerrin):p

Haha, like I said I adore them, even if I did mod the filters a bit, but calling them neutral is wrong. "Balanced" is subjective, what sounds balanced to me may not to you, but "neutral" is very specific and these ain't it.

Thanks everyone.
I came from sennheiser and they fit a lot different in your ears. Got a good seal now, they are much better. Should have tried more before posting.
Thanks

Its funny. I am a bass head. Coming from the UM3x I used to use the black filters on the Se846. After about 2 weeks I evolved to the white filters. Which are supposed to be the lease bass right? I actually found the bass sounds even better with the whites, aswell as everything else.
