it would be really great if someone could help me set an EQ up to get the se846 sound almost like w60s.

I know Plussound has an inline mic option for their cables, just putting it out there.

Thank you so much. I've been looking for one for a long time and didn't realize they added that as an option.

I've bought from them in the past and it looks like I'll be buying again. I was so close to buying an iem with a mic yesterday but now I don't have to :)

When I read your previous post I was going to respond the same. I've enjoyed my Plussound Echo silver/gold for 2 years now and just wish they had offered the mic back then. I got an extra plug set at the y-splitter so I could switch to a separate mic without removing the cables from the iem.

I do wonder why the mic option isn't available at more places. Custom cables are no longer mainly for customs and it should be an option since so many people I know have good iem's and use them with their smartphone. That's my portable rig and won't change anytime soon.

Anyway, I did order a cable this morning and just have to wait 2 months or so for the cable. It's a long wait but in the meantime I'll just use my phone's mic. It's not ideal but it lets me keep my SE846 since I was thinking of downgrading to an iem with mic or buying the Sony SBH80 for my phone. I bought the X series mic since they said that one comes with a mic on the left/right cable instead of replacing the y split.

Yes, the colour is like metallic / pearlescent blue with a purple tinge. Looks really good.

Finally, got my blue 846 last night. For the first hour of listening, overall sound is kind of muffled / veiled, especially vocal. Coming from 535, the bass of 846 is just night & day. Will patiently burn it in.

One quick question: swapping cable is much more difficult with 846 than 215, 425 & 535 that I used to own. Disconnecting is OK, but reconnecting requires pushing it in really hard (I did it very carefully in order not to break anything). Tried both stock cable & my other aftermarket cable, same situation. Is that normal?

I have had my dhc cables on for 1.5 years and they are excellent, so I don't remember any problems snapping them in. But many folks have complained about loose connections so take the tight fit as a blessing I guess. Harder for drop out disconnects.

Hi, anybody use the Se846 with the Fiio x7 or Ak 100 II?

Any thoughts of the pairing or brief comparison if you are lucky enough to have the two? I'm especially interested in the presence of hiss with the Se846.

Thanks!

I'd also be interested to hear X7 owners' impressions with the SE846. The SE846 work great with the X5ii, but there's a significant noise floor when used with the X3ii and X1 and an unbelievably high noise floor when paired with the M3. Hopefully the X7/SE846 combo is hiss-free?!?

A user in the Plenue D thread said that the X7 is about as hiss-free as the DX90.

Dx80 is far from hiss free, mojo is hiss free

Just got my SE846 back from repair. The left side mid freq. driver broke down. I am still in warranty so they just replaced it gladly. But i still wonder why it broke down so quick (i only listen moderate volume and use it for mixing down my tracks).

Hope that it does not fail outside of warranty..
