Considering either dx90 or ak240.

That's a pretty vast price and performance gap to put together.  If you are actually interested in the DX90, then I'd also consider the AK100II as a better but not AK240 priced alternative to the DX90.  Also the X5, despite being ugly, is a better more fully cooked design than the DX90 for even less money.  But the DX90 is pretty

Money is not really an issue so I am fortunate in that respect. I tried the dx90 which I liked a lot but there's nowhere to demo the 240 so I am relying on you guys!!!

I agree with you. A great start would be the X5 but myself am ok with the X3 and with new firmware it is more neutral and less warm but I like it stock too.

If money isn't an issue there really is no conversation to be had.  AK240 or Hugo w/ transport.

Can't go wrong with THAT money. Especially with AK240.
I had a short demo in a shop weeks ago, and I could not help smiling when I was listening to the music coming out of the 240.
It is in deed the ultimate all-in-one machine on the market currently.

...Perhaps until sometime this year when A&K release a new product that is EVEN ULTIMATER.

[EDIT]
Yet I'll say wait for the AK120II to come out and listen for yourself.
Since the two devices share the same spec except for the native DSD of the 240.

Made by the company that brings you K-Y. Aren't you glad those little sleeves aren't beige?

Luckily  it is OTO-EASE made by Westone.

Given that I am Musically more in tune with the era of the "Space Cowboy".  Growing up at one point being something of a cosmic kid myself , (though not in full costume dress), who may well have taking month long vacations in the stratosphere.   I think I would have been more comfortable if the had it not been Westone it was manufactuied by the company that brings you ASTRO-GLIDE not K-Y. (fwiw they are a pinkish hue. which opens up a whole new line of schoolboy humour)

Later I will have more helpful thoughts on this marvelous option for the "8s"

FYI I always have referred to my Shure's by their firast number. my 3s my 5s (E500 and SE535 at different times so no confusion) and 8s. Here sometimes I feel I am supposed to call them by their full name hence sometimes I do. Personally I like 8s and 5s  as a short form. the "s" stands for Series

Wow I really strayed there. ..Tired

Good advice. Ak240 is hkd20,800 vs AK120 ii at hkd13,800. Of course there is always some intangible pleasure of knowing you are using the top of the line model. Others have stated that the AK240 still sounds better. Having said that, the AK240 is an acquired aesthetic vs the industrial design of the AK120ii.
