Having owned shure headphones for over 15 years Ill add that in my experience their customer service has been excellentThey always said it was not for sale from the start. Clearly the people in their department selling spare parts did not get the memo - and this was later corrected. Simple as that.
I got mine that way - but I prefer the whites anyway.

I think se846 are already tuned having Harman curve in mind. They are connected to my SE846. I found the harman EQ adjustment settings but, as you said, the 4 band EQ is limited in the correction I can apply. Just wondering if anyone on here has managed to get the 4 band EQ settings as a good enough approximation to the harman curve adjustment.
Just use a wide bore silicone tip (eg spinfits cp800) which drives the signature towards sub and treble while pushing the mids a bit in the background.

Damn just received a replacement of the right bud due to mmcx connector proplem. Now the left one presents periodic connection drop.
As depicted half of the inner 'pin holder' is gone.
Back to Shure then ..
This is how the normal one looks:

This is what worries me. I had this with two sets from years ago and both times I spoke to Shure about it, they quoted me a price for an entire replacement IEM as they don't "repair" them. £400 each too!Damn just received a replacement of the right bud due to mmcx connector proplem. That's a shame. This is what worries me. I had this with two sets from years ago and both times I spoke to Shure about it, they quoted me a price for an entire replacement IEM as they don't "repair" them. £400 each too!
Luckily mine is still under warranty.
I'm wondering how well does the SE846 hold up in 2023. I have mine since 5 years, considering upgrading them. But...is it worth it? I use them directly out of my iPhone, with a Lightning to 3.5 convertor.
They probably sound the same as what they did 5 years ago…I'm wondering how well does the SE846 hold up in 2023. I have mine since 5 years, considering upgrading them. But...is it worth it? I use them directly out of my iPhone, with a Lightning to 3.5 convertor.
Ofcourse they do. But what I mean is, with the evolution of technology in these 5 years, how well do they stack up against the latest gen of audiophile IEMs?They probably sound the same as what they did 5 years ago…

There was no revolution in sound quality that I'm aware of...I'm wondering how well does the SE846 hold up in 2023. I have mine since 5 years, considering upgrading them. But...is it worth it? I use them directly out of my iPhone, with a Lightning to 3.5 convertor.
Yes, there are obviously many other models available, with different sound signatures and features. But none of them makes the SE846 any less good. I'm quite happy with my even older investment holding up so well.
I tried many other expensive, some even way more triple the price and didn’t like them. What I love about the se846 beeing warm neutral sounding.
What is it with so many people wanting that slam bass or extreme treble etc… listening that way for a long term period will cause only ear damage, proven! ear damage. Just have a hard time understanding.
To me that deep bass even hurt my ears. The reason I hate so many iem’s and headphones.

Anyone able to compare the 846 to the er2xr?

Non-fatiguing weighty and liquid midrange with strong yet detailed bass and rolled-off high treble, with excellent imaging yet not expansive soundstage.Ofcourse they do. But what I mean is, with the evolution of technology in these 5 years, how well do they stack up against the latest gen of audiophile IEMs?
This is what you get I think, from my long-term experience (4 years).
Even though I already sold a set and am considering selling my second, I must admit that what se846 offer is indeed unique and difficult to replicate.
Not the most qualified to talk on this but I will say when I tried the empire ears odin and ut12, they were definitely better but not significantly. I'll liken it to this - for me the the jump from the se535 to the se846 was like the jump from a ps2 to ps4. Huge difference. Se846 to u12t/odin (driven out of a chord mojo) was more like ps4 to ps5...more refined but not a giant leap.Ofcourse they do. But what I mean is, with the evolution of technology in these 5 years, how well do they stack up against the latest gen of audiophile IEMs?
Given that you use them directly through a lightning converter with no external DAC/Amp, I probably wouldn’t worry.I'm wondering how well does the SE846 hold up in 2023.
