If I keep using this suggesting it's surely just a matter of time before someone sends me their headphones.

Now, to attend to making a suitable storage space on my desk for my incoming 9200s...

Hm, a dilemma! I could help you on your way to 9200, but... that is a loft target indeed. It might be better for to give me your 9200s and thus remove said dilemma entirely :stuck_out_tongue:

hm, I should not have brought this up
Maybe I‘ll first girl on the next target: KSE1500... which unfortunately are much less mobile-use-friendly than the SE846

That describes the SE846 very well. I used to like rather bright headphones, but over the last few years came to like a more warm signature. If its well done, one won't miss the details, while overall it sounds more natural, not trying to impress with an unnatural amount of details I'd say. The SE846 plays exactly to this: its all there, but if directly compared to a bright headphone it may seem to miss treble. But as with most signatures, giving the brain some time to get accustomed to it helps a lot. To me the SE846 still sounds nice after more than 5 years, which is quite an accomplishment.

And yes, that bass :)
Don’t forget it has 3 filters to change the sound signature.

Absolutely, though I have to admit I only played around without treble variant for a short time. Switched back to default soon, and got used to that signature. But of course worth mentioning and worth trying out. Just be sure to close the holder mechanism correctly, I.e position filters and nozzle so that the plate can be screwed on correctly -- I failed at that once, and the sound signature is ruined if that seal breaks.

Problem solved, I lost the sweet spot due to some likes without thought
So... like away and don't feel guilty anymore.

Hi everyone, would like to share a neat eartip combo: The Final Audio nozzle adapter + Acoustune AET07 eartips. I was surprised at how much airiness and soundstage width and height that they brought. This is pretty much the airiest I've ever heard the Shures, they're normally pretty intimate sounding to me. Currently using them with the white filter.

There's a "correct" way to insert the nozzle adapter. It has to be pushed right to the bottom, but not squashed in such that the sleeve becomes deformed. See this pic as a reference:

Correct sleeve positioning.jpg

It should not be flush with the tip of the nozzle or the bass becomes muffled and the sound becomes too airy and undefined. Pic of "wrong" positioning below:

Wrong sleeve positioning.jpg

Best paired with warmer sources like the Lotoo Paw 6000 or the Lotoo Paw 5000 Mk ii. The synergy is amazing. I've not heard the se846 sound so huge and clear before.

I’m also using similar mod - white filters, adapters from Symbio Wn tips and SpinFit CP100. It opens up the sound stage with more airy sound as well as improve clarity and intensity, compared to stock blue filters which was more intimate and less airy. It is an easy mod to improve or get a different sound preference from the SE846. I would say the SE846 is indeed comparable or better than many current IEMs (still keeping mine)

So after around 6 years I still like my Se846.
Now I decided to upgrade, not to new IEMs but to custom eartips and a norne Silvergarde S4 cable

It’s always good to keep it fresh by tweaking things from time to time. I really like the sound of silver cables on the se846.

Which custom ear tips will you be getting?
