Ιt really depends on the gear you are using. For me the treble is perfect with Zx2+trrs,smooth as silk, thick, extremely detailed and musical although not the most airy but that is true to sony house sound.Se846 is certainly not for those who are treble heads and like endless extension/sparkle/energy.

To anyone who can answer these questions:

1) Do you hear any hiss with the Lightning to 3.5mm dongle with the SE846s?
2) Does the music sound less veiled with the SE846 than I'd did straight from the iPhone 6s headphone jack (the 6s's headphone jack had a particularly ****ty amplifier - I think the 5's and below were much better quality in terms of successfully driving IEMs).
3) How does the sound coming out of the lightning to 3.5mm dongle compare to something like an iPhone -> HA-2 / CCK+DragonFly Red -> SE846 chain?

You give me another few weeks and I'll answer this for you. :p

Very good. Mojo has a natural warm sound which works really good with those genres too. I had that combo at one point. Mojo has low output impedance so the frequency response will stay as it´s supposed to. The Shure´s have a very low impedance so many portables like iPhones with their 4-5 output impedance will color the sound.

I´m currently in the process of selling my SE 846, but might have them returned. Since I moved to iPhone7 I´ll be going portable from now on. Has anyone tried the new Westone bluetooth cable with the Shure 846? According to the Earphone Solutions website it should work fine with the Shures.

Just demoed it yesterday.

As its my first BA IEM, I was surprised at the level of bass compared to some of the reviews here.

It definitely has less bass than consumer IEMs (JBL S200, Klipsch S4), and I can't really comment on the bass level relative to higher end BA IEMs.

Clarity is much more improved over consumer IEMs though. I noticed certain poor parts of my high-res file that I did not in the past.

Have you read the thread with the results of using the headphone dongle vs the headphone jack with the SE846 on iPhones?

BA drivers never tend have the visceral bass you get from dynamics. In my experience they are superior in highs/mids, but for bass dynamic drivers win in the end. Even if the BA one has a high end subwoofer setup like the Shure SE846...

Anything with the clarity of the SE846 but the bass of a high end dynamic?

Try the 1More triple driver iems. They have 2 BA drivers and 1 dynamic driver for the low end all for like $100. They aren't as detailed as SE846, but get more than halfway there and the bass and soundstage width is incredible.
