Oh my gosh it's so shiny. It looks like a crystal radio headset. Does it sound good? And how is it modified? I assume new drivers or something?

It is a modded crystal set isn't it? Love the terminals with the nuts on the side. What are the guts?

Oh thanks for the info on those Philips. maybe I can pass these along to a pal for electronics beefing-up or reterminate like you mentioned.  See what happens when they show up.

There's got to be more vintage cans than this. Take this as a bump. Audition Brand ( made in Japan )
pic from the auction I won them off a while back. I was surprised with these considering their apparent age. Really comfortable. No information at all. Beasts.

i just bought a pair of minty pioneer Monitor 10's today and comes with original papers. i spent 100 bucks on them. from all the hype i read on them i had to get them so i dove in and bit the bullet. i see how they compare to my sextetts lp and 240DF's that i love so much when they get here.

A pair (!) of Sennheiser Unipolar electrostatics.

wow, i never saw those before. i knew sennheiser made some good dynamics back then but never knew they made electrostatics.do they suffer from bottom-end extension like most electrostatics?

There's also the Orpheus and HE60 as far as Senn stats.

Did the Unipolars come as a package? Or are they that awesome?

Actually the left is a Unipolar 2000, the right a 2002. The second model is quite interesting:

"The "unipolar 2002" is the world's first electrostatic headphone with a 2-way system without diplexer. Through the concentrically arrangement of both systems in one plane the distorsionless reproduction of an unusual wide frequency range is achieved." (2002 user guide)

I also have the Unipolar 2000, bought them more then 25 years ago. Unfortunately the soft padding of the earcups is deteriorated, I haven't found a solution yet.
I was very happy with the Unipolar at the time, nice to see them here!
