That’s true. But have you heard of pentaconn jacks (4.4) failing?

The decision has been made to move on so it can be said that is that
Nevertheless, audio jacks are a proven reliable technology (6.35mm or 1/4 inch plug since 19th century and 3.5mm plug since the 1950s according to Wikipedia) and devices simply do reliably keep working. A removable plug means 2 points of failure and without the decades and decades of trust that has been earned
Totally support here, removable Jack like conx - men’s worse quality. Hardwired connections are much more reliableThe decision has been made to move on so it can be said that is that

The modules were interesting idea at the time, when 2.5mm was still favored by many and 3.5Pro seemed like a new contender. It was easier to add modules than to make players with 4 different outputs.
Now with industry pretty much settled at simple 3.5mm + 4.4mm combo, the modules are no longer needed.

For me it was actually an aesthetics

May I suggest dust plugs for unused outputs. For me it was actually an aestheticstopic.. I am standardized on 4.4mm... So I did not need nor want to see any other gaping holes that only serve to pile up dust on the inside

Extra sockets in the DAP take up a lot of useful space that could be used to place chips and other parts.

About time to deal away with modules sockets.
I agree - and only use 4.4mm anymore anyway since I can get a modular cable for $40-$70 that solves the problem anyway for cheaper IEMs that come with 3.5mm standard for review. Most TOTL IEMs come with 4.4mm these days. At the price this will go for, no one is using anything other than 4.4mm with TOTL IEMs (unless they're confused or using 6.35mm for some reason). The modules were interesting idea at the time, when 2.5mm was still favored by many and 3.5Pro seemed like a new contender. Dream dap for me. I can only imagine how stellar this unit is going to sound. Unfortunately, it's going to be way out of my price range. Kudos to Shanling for keeping me drooling. Some day perhaps.
already know how much it costs?
