Are you running it at 100% that you need to boost it with additional gain in software?

Please note that when you enable EQ in Shanling Music, there is a significant gain reduction in the software, when you disable EQ you will get the full volume.

If you want to test it full, do a full factory reset and then play just in Shanling app, that should show you the full performance of the player, no matter what 3rd party apps or EQ can affect it.



Comparing volume values between players means nothing, different players have the volume curves set differently.

I'm not using EQ, but yes, I have boosted gain with software which helps. I've already performed a factory reset.

You're sure you're on Turbo gain? I'm using Abyss Diana MR and with these two sensitivity headphones, I'm at like 73 on Turbo gain with the M8

Yep, on Turbo. The comment about 73 with the Abyss shows exactly what I mean. I'm above that volume level with 32ohm dynamic drivers. I purchased used, perhaps there is a problem, or the seller did something to it. Not a clue.

Got it! Wasn't working on Chrome but switched to Firefox and it's good!

One more issue, I want to use the M8 as a usb DAC with my Google Pixel 7 pro, I've seen on here that all you need is a c to c, which I'm using, and it is a data cable, but all that happens is my pixel starts charging from the M8 lol. I had it work once with Roon Arc then never again no matter what I do. Any tips?

M8 was not that much made for this, it was designed to work with PCs and their power supply on USB.

For getting it connected, it can differ from phone to phone. Most of time it helps if the cable is firstly inserted into the phone and then into M8.

Please be aware that in USB DAC mode M8 will be using USB power for both its XMOS and charging, so it will drain your phone quickly and some phones might even report issue of too high power drain over USB.
