So here's the thing. The apps won't STOP working. If they upgraded past Android 7 compatibility, you would simply be stuck with the current function you have now. For example, I have an Android 4 device that can run Tidal Music. You had to be on Android 6 when Tidal started to implement various playlists and Masters audio, so that device can only do music albums and CD quality audio, but the app still functions. Currently, these music apps require Android 6 for full functionality. I don't foresee major changes coming anytime soon to where you would miss out on much. Evenso, the current ability of Android 7 and these music apps is more than enough. Playlists, and hi-res audio streams and downloads are enabled, so at worst you still would have access to albums and playlists as you do nowI can get a second hand, in almost new state of the M8. But I was wondering, how worried should I be regarding streaming services support like Qobuz, Tidal or spotify (if they ever come with hi-fi), running android 7?
Even second hand it is quite expensive, and don't want to make it obsolete within 2 years.
I tried looking for real high end dac/amps, but he only thing I find are mediocre dongles (not up to spec of high end daps) or xdsd gryphon I own, but those or not high end, they are noisy for IEM's (at least the gryphon is, not using IEmatch)
You can turn off the auto-off in settings.Yes, usage is mediocre at best, I hate the "auto off" but plugging any of my phones regardless of the power requirements is a joy.

Since Tidal update in August, it caused a lot of issue for many Android DAPs. Our software team was able to get the proper Hi-Res Max Files working, the MQA still needs more fixing.@Shanling with the new firmware tidal mqa files are playing with errors. Normal flax plays normal but the mqa files stoters. Pls fix that

Okay thank you: since my record collection is most in MQA format I hope it can be fixed soonSince Tidal update in August, it caused a lot of issue for many Android DAPs. Our software team was able to get the proper Hi-Res Max Files working, the MQA still needs more fixing.
The USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP) beta Android app has Tidal embedded and it works flawlessly with everything in the new Tidal FLAC regime: 16/44.1, 24/96, 24/192 and MQA. Now, I'm using a Shanling M6 Pro 21 (Android 7.1.1) with its latest 1.32 firmware but it may also work with your M8. If you already have UAPP and you're in its Playstore page in your DAP, you can sign with the beta with a click.@Shanling with the new firmware tidal mqa files are playing with errors. Yes, Shanling Music app updates are tied to firmware updates. So to have the latest version of the app, make sure you are running the latest firmware@Shanling, does the Shanling music app gets updated with the firmware? how can I know I have the latest version?
