Shanling M8 Android Portable player

I was considering buying the Shanling M8, as several friends are offering it to me. However, I've seen several reports of instability issues: slowness when executing certain functions, unexpected app closures, and even issues with the 4.4 mm balanced module, which, according to reports, can easily come out when plugging and unplugging due to pressure on the connector. All of this makes me seriously wonder if it's really worth buying.

And while the newer model, the M9 Plus, seemed like a more reliable alternative, it's not without its flaws either. There are reports that the second screen doesn't turn on in some units, which shows that the Shanling's problems aren't isolated.

Even so, I'm still debating whether to prioritize sound quality or pass on it. They say its sound signature is quite similar to that of the Sony WM1Z, which is very tempting. If a good deal comes up at a lower price, I'll probably consider it based on its sound performance alone... but with this background, it's still a difficult decision.

I have the M8. I use it with Apple Music. I haven't had any of the issues you mentioned. It has the most musical and balanced sound of any DAP I've ever owned (with the IER-Z1R). I've heard the M8T and M9. I haven't heard the M9+.
