Easy, sr-25 is intro level, M8 is TOTL....

Care to elaborate?

I ask because my SR25 is, to my ears, better than the SP1000M... less annoying as in less showing off with details usually found in DAPs using AKM DACs.

A&K tuning is detailed neutral. The sr-25 has a great sound, but it just does not have the detail and level of sophistication of the M8. The M8 has better detail, soundstage, layering, it's warmer, richer, and imaging is better. 2 completely different experiences for 2 different price points.

It is all preferences really. A&K always aims toward more details, separations rather than Shanling who aims for a little more warmth, analog emotions as a priorities

Early impressions? I have two other new daps as well (AK SR25 & Xuelin 1969 Tube Dap), but this is next level for sure!

Compared to the SR 25, not only stage is wide but every image IS BIGGER, along with it comes weight, detail and lots of dynamism! If mid-fi daps are layered pictures, this is a 3D pool of immersion.
How's that for description??? Haha, imma go listen some more.
