@Shanling the amplification section seems class AB?Audio circuit of the M7 is based around ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DAC. The flagship model of the ESS line, power hungry 8-channel beast and DAC that we started to really like last year, when we implemented it into our top-of-the-line CD Player CD3.2 (21). All the experience of adapting it into a classic Hi-Fi machine helped us in optimizing its performance for the M7.
The ES9038 PRO is run in its current-mode operation, combined with a matching ESS ES9311 voltage regulator, a power circuit adapted from the M9 and our in-house developed I/V conversion stage. When paired with our OP + BUF amplifier architecture, which was further optimized for the M7, we are actually getting our best measuring portable player so far.

Will the M7 have that neat wallpaper that shows the internal parts of the DAP like M9 and M6 Pro 21?
Yeah, we have one in that style, but I think it doesn't look as good. Will the M7 have that neat wallpaper that shows the internal parts of the DAP like M9 and M6 Pro 21?

According to the Shanling site the M7 offers 10 hours SE and 8.5 hours balanced. Is that playing local files or streaming? If it isn't streaming then what can be expected for battery life with wifi active and streaming audio? Sorry but this is alot of money to pay for such limited battery life and such a large battery. Is heat going to be an issue since you are basically cramming an M9 into a smaller chassis? I am interested to see how this DAP performs once people get a chance to own it.
It is getting to the point with android DAP's that the worst case battery life figures need to be the stated so buyers aren't disappointed under real life usage conditions.

That case... yikes. The open corner above the wheel is a really impractical design -- there's no way that's not going to get nicked. Of their TOTL DAPs, I still prefer the M8's external design.

I'd like to see M7-M8-M9 sitting side by side to see the size difference.

Running it just with basic wi-fi streaming don't have that big impact on battery life.
MQA streaming is a bit different, that can cut it bit more. So it's up to you if you are using Tidal or many of the other streaming services.
Hi-Fi is power demanding, especially in case of ES9038Pro. There will always be compromises between the audio and battery life for anything above solutions like ES9219C.
Regarding heat, M7 is using same system as M8 and M9, it can get quite warm, just as the other two players. But nothing to be worried about.
hmm, worst case for battery life would be something like running power demanding headphones, on top volume, highest gain, while streaming MQA files and playing triple-A mobile game. Didn't tested that one yet.

There is always discussion about the upper right corner between designer and rest of the team. The upper right corner cover makes it harder to insert or remove the player and it pushes on the wheel while inserting it. That's why they decided to skip it.
I hope quick shot from my desk would be enoughI'd like to see M7-M8-M9 sitting side by side to see the size difference.

That's good now can you stack them on top of each other to show us the different thicknesses?Running it just with basic wi-fi streaming don't have that big impact on battery life.

M8 - M7 - M9
M7 and M8 are identical thickness, M9 is 2mm thicker, but that's mostly visible on the screen frame being slightly higher. not really visible on photos. That's good now can you stack them on top of each other to show us the different thicknesses?

Any detailing on the amplification? curious to know if it supports Class AB or Class A amplification?
