No dedicated line-out.

Pity. I won't use software toggling because I might forget to switch to PO, plug in my IEMS, press play and... :scream:

Audio circuit of the M7 is based around ESS Sabre ES9038PRO DAC. The flagship model of the ESS line, power hungry 8-channel beast and DAC that we started to really like last year, when we implemented it into our top-of-the-line CD Player CD3.2 (21). All the experience of adapting it into a classic Hi-Fi machine helped us in optimizing its performance for the M7.

The ES9038 PRO is run in its current-mode operation, combined with a matching ESS ES9311 voltage regulator, a power circuit adapted from the M9 and our in-house developed I/V conversion stage. When paired with our OP + BUF amplifier architecture, which was further optimized for the M7, we are actually getting our best measuring portable player so far.

AMAZING specs. The DAC of course, but also the entire architecture as you updated it in the thread title. Now I am afraid price will run too high for me with such a sheet. Reads like a DX240 competitor rather than an M6 successor.
The 9038Pro also does unbalanced really well, I am tired of gear with crosstalk above 100dB in BAL but under 80 in UNBAL.

This is a rather interesting DAP but I already have the DX240 with the same DAC, unless the M7 has a completely different sound signature. There's no Pro version this time?

Let’s see what the price and battery life are. I’m guessing 10 hrs balanced though with those specs..price? I’m guessing $1,099..let’s see how close I am lol.

I guess take the price of the M6 Pro $800 and the M9 $2800 and plop the M7 roughly half way between them. :) So I will guess more like $1500.00, let's see who is closer!

@fish1050 & @Silverlinings it can be $1200 also... :darthsmile:
I like to plan for the worst and hope for the best. So guess high and be happy if it comes in lower and unhappy if it comes in even higher. :L3000: Also don't forget the Covid factor with supply chain backlogs and parts shortages prices will be higher. The price of the M3X went up apparently because of parts shortages. Definitely not the best time to buy a DAP price wise. Hopefully things will be better by the fall, just in time for Black Friday maybe. That will also give Shanling 6 months or so to start the rollout of the inevitable firmware updates.
