Shanling M6 PRO - New version coming Summer 2021
Jan 25, 2022 at 1:38 PM Post #841 of 959
Kinda weird I just checked my M6 Pro 21 with 1.1 build number and it’s running the latest version of Google Play Store (V28.9.12-21) I even downloaded a app to check and didn’t Experience any issues with download or install.
Same here. My Playstore App auto updated to the latest version and it too is working.

You are only looking at FW and Android Version. You have to check the version of Play Store App. Goto Settings > Apps > Google Play Store
The installed version number will be displayed under the app title. If the number displayed is higher than 28.8.17 uninstal it and install the compatible version as described above. Google automatically updates the apps as new versions are released. I've figured out how to disable automatic app updates for all apps except Play Store. @Shanling are you aware of a way to disable automatic updates for Play Store?
It seems to be mainly caused if you install update or do fresh install from APKPure. Update within the app itself seems to work alright.

Installed FW 1.2 via download to PC then transfer to DAP, as the in-DAP update was taking forever. No problems so far and my machine does the normal startup screens but I don't see the brief "Android is Starting" thing at the end of the startup routine anymore. Anyway, no issues so far.

the download link for usb dac driver on shanling website is fixed, thanks

a question for @Shanling please, when using the unit as usb dac for PC. the charging status on the screen blinks as in it shows the unit is charging. but i don't see the battery getting topped up. ie: it shows at 90% at first, then after 30 minutes, it still shows 90%.

is this a normal behaviour? is the unit powering itself through battery or the usb type-c power supply from PC? does using it this way affect the battery longevity? i'd appreciate it very much if anybody from Shanling can answer this. Thanks..

unit sounds great btw, i like the ak4497 implementation. vocal sounds very sweet and smooth.. really love how shanling apply AGLO on every models to for a really black background for sensitive iems. catched and released a m6 2021 model before upgrading to m6 pro ak4497 and the m6 2021 model also have a black hissless sound.. really great

In USB DAC mode, it still runs fully out of the battery power. In theory this might have some effect on the battery in long term, if you keep it using as USB DAC.

What is a good cable to use for a Schiit Jotunheim with the ES90228 DAC . I think it uses a usb-b . i'm looking for a pretty good cable. I ask Hart Cables which makes all of my cables and they don't make usb cables. i looking for a cable with a cord like hart cables or something good for around 50 - 70 dollars

We use cables that are sold as printer cables, simple USB-C to USB-B.

does it matter if you use your 4.4 balanced out to your Schiit Jotunheim balance input, or doe you to use the usb-c out .. I just bought some Hart cables made to use the 4.4 balanced out with 2 xlr ends for my Schiit input.. will this damaged my schiit amp. It sounds good and i can use the volume control on the Shanling..

You can check with the Schiit audio, how is their stance on grounding at the XLR input, as the 4.4mm output on M6 Pro is not using grounding.

So this is more a issue with this amp and the m6? I’m using the 4.4 to xlr and works perfect with the Xduoo ta20. With no grounding on the m6 what’s the best type of interconnection cable? I’m using a grounded interconnection cable would there be any difference with a unbalanced cable?

I did have to search a bit to find a grounded 4.4 to xlr since most don’t list the info. I bought the DDhfi cable and happy with the sound and quality of cable.
