Hi all,

recently the battery in my M6 started dying. It doesn't last long anymore and percentages go down multiple steps in seconds etc.
I ordered a new suitable battery on AliExpress. Could someone help me how I could savely remove the back cover?
I guess it's glued and I need a heat gun and a tool to lift it up?. It's totally clear for me that the risk is on my side - warranty is already over so... In my opinion its the much faster and more cost effective way to change the battery on my own.
To reapply the cover I already ordered a smartphone repair glue.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Curious how long you've had it, and how often you use it?

It's an M6 pro and I got it around early june 2020. I pre ordered it before the official release.
Used it roughly around 8 hours +- a week.
Battery is still lasting around 4 hours (of around 9 hours I got when I received it) in balanced / low gain / max 30 Volume and it's not completely dead.
I can also see it on the battery percentage - at some levels it drops multiple percentages in a couple of seconds before it stays at the next level for a little while.

The back panel, which is glass and plastic sandwich, with battery glued to it over double sided tape. It's being hold in the frame by small plastic prongs going around the edge and some glue.

Opening is similar to modern smartphone, but bit easier, as we are not gluing it to extreme. So if you opened any smartphone, M6 would be easy for you.

Best to sue some heat to loosen up the glue and then use suction cup to lift the back panel. be careful to not to pull too much and too fast, as you might tear the cables by accident.

Here is opening M3X, similar to M6 https://imgur.com/a/p1CBaEU

Thank you very much for your fast and helpful response (that's how you do customer service right - and one of the reasons why my next DAP will also be from Shanling)

I already did something similar with a smartphone - so it shouldn't be an issue for me.

Will keep you all updated as soon as the battery arrives and I tried to change it. (Unfortunately shipping of the battery will take some time)

I've been shopping for a new DAP and Shanling's customer service has been very fast and upfront of products coming down the pipe (I was asking about smaller DAPs and they said the M3X was as small as Android players could get). Haven't found the perfect porridge for this bear yet, but a new M6 with the same form factor, updated Android and longer battery life may be it!
