Thanks. I've decided to blame Roon for this one. There's a way to make it work, and they can't be bothered.

I haven't experienced the issues you're indicating here but dont dispute it. I too have the latest firmware. In the shanling app, I have detailed before how I can import playlists. I create the playlist in JRiver and export the the relative path M3U file to the sd Card. Then in Shanling App I Create a new playlist and give it a name. Then I navigate to the folder containing the M3U list and open it. The list of tracks appears and I select all, then "Add To" select the name of the playlist you created in step 1. That works for me
The easiest way to do this is to simply buy the UAPP from Playstore. It automatically picks up and creates playlists from .M3U files and it sorts by both Album Artist and Artist. Its very clean.
I did go ahead and just bought UAPP. Compared to other players I have tried on the M6 (PowerAmp especially) this one actually manages to sound very, very close to the Shanling app. To the point of where I'm not entirely certain if the difference in sound that I hear is not down to bias on my part. UAPP in bit perfect mode seems a little colder. I overall prefer the sound of the Shanling app still (at least, I think I do, stupid bias you can never be sure...). But yeah UAPP has a lot of quality of life features that I'm missing in the Shanling app, besides what's currently broken. Switching between cover and list view, smart sorting by tags, allowing a genre -> artist -> album grouping, and gapless playback.
UAPP complains when I select the hi-res DAC output that the player may not have one. But it's still putting out sound. What's up with that? I guess what I'm asking is, what is the ideal configuration for UAPP on the M6?

@Shanling Will there be a new firmware soon for M6 pro 21?

Pretty sure high-res DAC output is for coax, optical or USB output to an outboard DAC. Unless you are connected to the outboard DAC, there’s no reason for it to function. You are using the internal DAC of the M6 21. Of course it’s hi res, but you aren’t connected externally to one.I did go ahead and just bought UAPP. Ah OK. I was just wondering because AFAIK the M6 is still a high-res player (right?). But yeah if that's for a strictly outboard DAC it would make sense.Pretty sure high-res DAC output is for coax, optical or USB output to an outboard DAC. UAPP also does Bit-Perfect which AFAIK the Shanling app doesn't do.
Both are pretty close in sound. Shanling still sounds warmer to my ears, which I prefer, UAPP sounds really good, but slightly colder / more neutral.

All apps should due to the ALGO system Shanling use to bypass Android audio limits.

Question: If two apps on the same player reproduce a tack in bit-perfect mode... They should sound EXACTLY the same, right?

Welcome to the World of Hi-Fi. Where in theory identical softwares sound different and where people are chasing even different sounding hard drives.Question: If two apps on the same player reproduce a tack in bit-perfect mode... They should sound EXACTLY the same, right?

Received my M6 21 about 2 weeks ago. this is my second DAP (1st was the. Pioneer XDP-300R) and wow does this player sound incredible. I have it paired with the Thieaudio Legacy 3 via 4.4mm balanced output. It definitely sounds bright and clear and the detail retrieval is amazing and not to mention its got very punchy bass especially after some burn in so for me it doesn't sound boring or dull. I am hearing little nuances and details in songs that I never noticed before. Highly recommend this to anyone that's looking for a DAP. only problems I have with the player is where the play pause and next/previous buttons are placed and the fact that the MQA indicator light doesn't turn on even when using the dedicated Shanling music player app. UAPP works incredibly well with very minor glitches here and there. I'm super happy with my new player.

Glad you like its sound.
For "MQA indicator light", what exactly please do you mean? There is no light dedicated to MQA. It just shows MQA logo in now playing screen and you should be seeing the matching sampling rate in status bar.

The sound is absolutely amazing I’m incredibly very happy with the player. When I stream MQA music from Tidal it does cutoff and stutter a little bit but I think that could be my wifi not too sure and here’s what I mean about the MQA indicator light
This is error in manual, there is not light for indicating MQA.The sound is absolutely amazing I’m incredibly very happy with the player. Ohh! Okay no problem! Also was wondering if there is a way for me to install apps directly to an SD card on the M6 (21)? I cant seem to find an option that lets me do this.
Our recommendation is to install only into internal memoryOhh! Okay no problem! Also was wondering if there is a way for me to install apps directly to an SD card on the M6 (21)? I cant seem to find an option that lets me do this.
