If you need more power or still want MQA/Tidal, then M6 21 is the better choice.

In fact I am quite old school offline listener - my DAP doesn't support it at all and I don't even have smartphone.. That might change, who knows, right now I am bit afraid of all this Android stuff. Would prefer great sounding modern circuit for the conversion and amplification with simple interface. So for me it comes down to the sonic differences of this M6 line models..

If you are looking for a warmer and more analog sound, go for the original, if you prefer more brilliance, go for the new. In detail, soundstage and instrument separation are on par. The price is more or less the same, I have the original and I would never exchange it for the new one, if you want something that sounds like new there are dozens of daps, if you want something that sounds like the original the price goes up and there are far fewer daps out there. The output power is in favor of the new.

Thanks for this reply, it is helpful. This comparison of "analog" vs "more brilliance" is based on your own listening experience? I would incline to the "analog" variant from your description if the detail, soundstage and separation are indeed the same. While they are still on stock.. Any observations for M6 original vs M6 pro, if you had a chance to compare side by side? (I found that one with some discount nearby..)

@Shanling how about Older M6 apple music support ?, I just installed in both Android phone and shanling m6. I can modify audio quality to hires lossless in my android phone (android 9) but there isnt this option on shanling m6. Apple music beta 3.6

Will check on this. Apple Music seems to be changing quite a bit now at the release.

no thats correct M6 21 has ES8038Q2M. The M6 original had AKM 4495SEQ chips.
While M6 Pro 21 has ES9068AS chip

There is no ES8038Q2M DAC to my knowledge. M6 21 runs on 9038, if they say something else they haev either mistake in specs or have no idea what are they talking about.
