Agreed, But since this is an android DAP, I'd like to play MQA straight from tidal. which would vastly increase my Hi-res music library. There isn't any streaming service that offers FLAC or DSD Streaming right now (and hence my FLAC/DSD library is very limited). MQA is a reality at this moment, and I'd have liked to make full use of it. I've still gone ahead and ordered the M6 from linsoul. Let's see how it turns out. I'd much rather have a shanling than a fiio, due to my past horrible experiences with multiple fiio products, and excellent experience with the M1.

As for the software bit, In my experience with the M1, Shanling continued to provide meaningful upgrades for a few years. they delivered on their promise of providing the HiBy Link capability to M1 as well. which vastly improved the capability of that tiny dap. So I'm not worried about the gapless situation.

There are Amazon HD and Qobuz as alternatives for Hi-Res music streaming.

Yes but Amazon HD is stuck at 192khz, no matter if playing regular, HD or ultra HD tracks...

I¨m not a Tidal user, but my understanding is that offers some sort of FLAC equivalent (called Tidal HD?); In fact I remember reading that most of tidal HD library is not QMA; but FLAC lossless, I have an extensive FLAC and DSD library, but overall I tend to stay with FLAC (no even hiress 24bit, 172Khz, etc), but just red book, they sound amazing; DSD brings some additional SQ, occasionally.

Maybe some headfiers with more Tidal experience can comment.

Theoretically, one huge bonus of Android DAPs is that I can install apps for my work (either directly from the Google Play store or otherwise), where I often need to test QA dev builds for the design team. What version of Android does this run, and can I install ANY Android app on here compatible with that version of Android kernel? What are the limitations given that Shanling isn't running the latest or even the second latest version of Android? Any insight would be very helpful. Thanks!

Currently M6 runs Android 7.1.1. 32 bit
In theory it can install anything from Play store that wouldn't be limited by system or some special factor, but we test it mainly for audio apps, testing whole wide range of Android apps is out of our possibilities.

not sure is it just me or app problem, but everytime i turn on the M6, all the downloaded music of Spotify is gone, I have to download it again, and the download will stop if my screen is off...so I have to keep the screen on all time while I download the songs...anyone has the same problem?

my Shanling M6 chinese version is now unstable after the new update 2.8.
It is freezing several times when i hear with bluetooth receiving mode.
The last freeze was only fixable with button combination for force restart.
Has anyone the same problems?

I was using Tidal, now using Amazon HD because it's cheaper and they seem to have a larger library. No issue whatsoever on these 2 services. Do you have play store installed? maybe Spotify would work better with it? I have the international version btw...

I'm using the international version v2.8, with Google Play Store, the Spotify is download from the play store, it just randomly stopped working, need to use turn on the m6 screen, go to Spotify and press play to resume the music play, super weird if you ask me...

I checked with colleagues, they have no such reports from Chinese customers.

You mean you have it connected as Bluetooth receiver and then it suddenly freezes, stops receiving signal and doesn't play anymore? Or that it's only stuck in the receiver mode and you can't get out of it?

There is no dedicated line out circuit in M6, line out mode still uses all internal amplification.

i don't think it's about the premium account, spotify just stop working during my commute, it was offline and playing music from the downloaded music on SD card

I have Spotify downloaded and it works fine while streaming. But without premium account I'm unable to test out the offline function.

Can you test if it will be showing same problems when downloading to internal memory?
