I need a dap. Is this worth holding out for? Or what else could be as good as this unproven device.
at this price point, fiio m9 which is going to be released in the next month. Other than that, none that I can think of.

if you need something atleast 90% as good as that, then get shanling's own m3s

You seem to have a awful lot of ideas about the M5s, have you heard it?

If the M5s doesn't sound noticeably better than the already great sounding M3s few will buy it. I suspect Shanling knows that well and therefore we can expect a nice SQ improvement. In that case I will buy one with a smile. It doesn't have to be an A&K clone at <$300.

with all due respect, just because I give suggestions to the people here doesn't mean that i have to hear the m5s to get an idea about how it sounds. Sometimes, experience tells how a device might sound. I am telling you this based on my experience with my fiio q5 on pc
