I am curious about the DLNA function in the M5S... Will it connect directly to a DLNA server without needing an intervening application (on your smartphone) like the Hiby R3? If it connects directly to the server that would be a real winner!

I’m curious to hear the new DACs in the M5s. I also like the fact that it will play DSD 256 (from iso I suppose). LDAC is great, but o don’t have any LDAC devices. I love my M3s and it’s manual interface, so touchscreen is not necessarily a plus for me. Waiting for the reviews to see if I want to upgrade, very curious about what’s in store for the sound.

Is this the first use of the DAC chip in the M5s?
there are desktop dac utilizing this chip but i haven't seen a dap utilizing this dac chip.

Looking forward to this device!
However, would this device has MSEB (hiby os) function? I quite impressed with it.
If got, this would be next DAP!

M5s has no connection to HiBy, so no MSEB.

But we are cooperating on EQ/DSP system for M5s with different third party apps and we hope to have there more than just basic EQ.

Trying to find out from engineers, will report when I hear back from them.

To our knowledge it is first DAP with AK4493.
Of course, there might be some random Chinese player on aliexpress that uses it, not sure.

Hopefully, that would be the great guys from Sonarworks... The best software DSP / EQ in the market IMHO.

I wonder how this will compare to the Cayin N5II in terms of sound. This has less features, but realistically I just like a great sounding unit playing songs from the microSD card and through wired headhones. My go to brand used to be FIIO but since I purchased the M2 (and then M2S and M1 and M0) it has been Shanling so I am pretty interested.

Would love to be a reviewer on this or at least on a tour.

The thing I'm probably most curious about is the battery life. We already know that Shanling makes good sounding DAPs, I'm also keen to learn about the changes in the new UI.
i tried the m0 and loved its ui. Hopefully, this will be even better than that

It's a little disappointing IMO
Really? So why dont you buy Ipod nano, sony a45 or smth else?
9h balanced with on 2x4493 with 3400mah battery is great result.
Dx200 plays for only 7h(flac 16bit) over balanced output with 4400mah.
dx150 ~ 10h(mp3) with 4400mah.

@Shanling
please dont sacrifice SQ for longer battery life.

16 hours balanced is more like what I was hoping for.
That might be possible with those graphene batteries of the future. But as of now, we will have to make do with 9 hours buddy. :frowning2:
