Maybe time to educate your readers on such basic thing  ...

My readers are your customers, maybe they will listen better to you :p cause I'm about to give up :D

But either way, other flagships like LPGT and R2R2000 don't have internal storage either. Everybody does it the way it makes sense to them, there is no right or wrong.

Why do you need my initial impressions when you already bought it? As long as you are enjoying it, never doubt yourself and never give in to buyers remorse :D And, I think it's quite a noticeable step up from M3s. actually more like the best of M3s and M0. Everything is improved and perfected, down to a leather case. But I still wish too see future Shanling DAP release with internal storage, maybe in M6s or M7s? :D
Me not.
Is it comparable with other flagships (f.e. With dx208, lp6, sp1000, lpg) in terms of sq? Or it is from mid-tier(Cain n5iis, dx156, hiby r6)?

Sorry, some disconnection between my brain and fingers.
I prefer to force our software team to work on functions and not useless animations

Hey, it is not useless man. Just make your UI simply elegant and more emotional! Look at how cool the Questyle's volume change animations are!

Very glad to hear some Canadian dealers will have the M5S and hopefully one close to me so I can demo it. Having spent several days plowing through the Cayin N8 thread and reading posts from people trying to justify $3000 for a DAP that gets like 8 hours per charge. Suddenly the M5S doesn't seem so out of reach cost wise. Maybe a demo can get me to loosen the money belt this one time.

Here are some "first impressions" of a reviewer from Headfonics https://headfonics.com/2018/11/shanling-m5s-first-contact/

I agree with him that "The experience is noticeably relaxed in the presentation. This is the type of player that would be better suited for usage with wide-field imaging headphones ". To me
Shanling M5s ' build quality, functions and tonality would be as good as ( if not better ) the Sony ZX300 ( which costs 40% more the M5s). I really like the Shanling M5s soundstage! So that is one of the reason I have picked up it instead of the ZX300!

As far as I know, three stores, in Canada, will have M5s units to sell: The Headphonebar (Vancouver), Layton Audio (Montreal), and a third one. The first batch will be limited in number and will arrive in December. $599.

" Most of my DAP’s are of a few generations ago, like my Cowon Plenue M. But, even the older Cowon sounds thicker, more weighted top to bottom. Whereas the M5S feels mellow by comparison and of a moderate heft."
Too bad for me...

"For now, my impressions are positive and I really am hoping Shanling takes a crack at the ultra expensive DAPs in the future. I’d love to see and hear what they can do with a $1000usd+ DAP in the near future!"
Mid-tier dap...

Is Tidal integrated? If yes does downloading songs work knowing that there is no internal storage and Tidal typically doesn't allow saving songs on sdcards...
Thanks

Shanling told me that they would not release any info about Tidal integration, for now. They are still working on it, and will wait for the system to be fully reliable before making any public announcement. This is wise.

That being said, a seller has confirmed that Tidal online works on the M5S. I guess they need more time to make sure the system is truly stable and reliable.

Also, Shanling told me not to expect Tidal downloads, as this is, according to them, nearly impossible with third-party OS.
