dx120 doesnt even sound good
Welp, each to their own, but DX120 is one of the best for that price range and I have a large amount of gear to compare
Maybe you are looking for a different signature (?)

40 seconds you say. Around 30 second after music is paused, audio circuit shuts down. When you restart playback, it should all turn back on.
Can you please try to do this again and actually put your ear next to your player, on restarting playback you should hear two metal clicks, about 2.5 seconds apart.
I'm getting suspicious this problem might be amplifier part not turning back on. So you are getting just weak signal from DAC.
May I ask which sound signature (M5s vs DX 120 not to mention the prices) you prefer ?
Need your review and comparisons asap soldier.I'm waiting for M5s to get to me at this point, only have DX120, and I can say with confidence that I love it

Does anyone know how to name or rename a playlist? Every time I try to create a playlist it is just Playlist 1/2/3 and I cannot find the rename option!
@Shanling It is most certainly not related to the relays cutting out the amp circuit, because if i resume the playback after relay click, it just clicks again and music resumes on same volume as previously.
Tried to replicate the issue multiple times with varying settings regarding auto-idle and auto-shutdown setting, with multiple tries with each setting. However, I managed to have this issue only once through all this testing and once by accident It was with auto-shutdown and auto-standby both turned off. The issue happened after pausing the playback and waiting 1 minute, then trying to play music again with side buttons with screen turned off. The issue didn't appear again after rebooting and trying the same "procedure" again, sadly The second time it happened was when i paused the playback, unplugged the iems and went to get a different pair, plugged in the other pair and the playback was very quiet. Once again I wasn't able to replicate this to happen again, even when playing around with different pairs of earphones. Seems to be a very random behavior, but related to idling.

Is it possible that they have incorporated a muting function in the design such that when the IEM's are unplugged the volume is automatically decreased to minimize the risk of overloading/blowing whatever gets plug back in? My Cowon P1 has this feature and it annoys me but I understand why it works this way (no option to turn it off either). Just a thought since you mentioned it happened after unplugging your IEM's...@Shanling It is most certainly not related to the relays cutting out the amp circuit, because if i resume the playback after relay click, it just clicks again and music resumes on same volume as previously.

Currently no way how to change it.
But since M5s has access to standard keyboard (for Wifi passwords), I hope software team can change it in future.
Will report it and will try experimenting more. I asked Chinese colleagues, but they didn't get a single report of this from whole Chinese market.
It happened to me twice, so I know it isn't limited to your unit.
Sure thing, must be software related. Hope it will be fixed soon
@Shanling
So is the low volume debacle associated with the new firmware? With my unit, it happens after taking out the old headphones and then replugging the new headphones into the 3.5mm jack. (I don't have balanced headphones at the moment, so I don't use the 2.5mm jack.)
With mine though, sometimes there would be no sound at all.
This occurrence also happens almost every time I switch headphones with 2.1.
I already have my M5s packed and ready to be returned to MusicTeck tomorrow, since I thought my player's defective.
