Hi Shanling,
Have you fixed the problem with AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_32_BIT in your firmawre?
Shanling M3X currently cannot feed its two internal DACs with 32-bit int packets, onlly [24_bit int] audio packets.

Neutron Player developer, Dmitry, confirmed this bug in your firmwares.
Using UAPP, I also couldn't feed the internal DACs with 32-bit int packets NOR 24.8-bit packets (24-bit packed at best). Which is underusing the DAC specification capabilities and be useful for a better digital volume control...

@Shanling Hi, I've had M3X since Feb this year. Every once in awhile someway through the track, it will "skip", something like what you will experience with a CD player, and there will be a second or 2 of silence before the music plays again. I will rewind and it will play through "skipped" parts without any issue. Thus it is not due to the music not ripped properly. It is quite annoying. Would like to know what are the possible causes.

Does anyone else experience this as well?
Already fix with the new firmware update. That is my problem as well before their new update. You should try it.

Firmware Update

Shanling M3X V1.62

Use OTA update or download file from links above for manual update (Files around 1.2GB)

New system functions and changes:

1. Fixed issue with playback from USB drives.
2. Added Czech language to the system.
3. Adjusted USB Out volume control.
4. Improved Synclink performance.
5. Added SMB support to Shanling Music app.
6. Other bug fixes and system improvements.

This seems to support SMB1 only. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong? I don't really want to enable SMB 1 on my network due to massive, well known security issues.

At this time it only supports SMB v1, software teams hopes to add the other versions at later date.

Is SMB1 enabled and operational even if we are not using the Shanling player app?

It will be enabled only when you are in the Shanling app and go to the "NAS" section.

Hi Shanling,

With this new firmware update v1.62, the [AUDIO_FORMAT_PCM_32_BIT] bug has still not been fixed.
Shanling M3X currently cannot feed its two internal DACs with 32-bit int packets, only [24-bit int] audio packets.

Neutron Player developer, Dmitry, confirmed this bug in your firmwares.
Using UAPP, I also couldn't feed the internal DACs with [32-bit integer] packets and also [24.8-bit integer] packets. UAPP can just feed 24-bit-packed audio packets to the Shanling M3X internal DAC at best). In a correct low level sofware implemention, ESS DACs can be fed with 32-bits-integer audio packets for optimal performances.

Could you please tell the developper team to fix that bug in the next Shanling M3X firmware?

Thanks.
Best regards.

I've developed a couple of little nusance problems on my M3X. My M3X no longer automatically connects to my WiFi, I have to manually connect and every time I lose the signal I have to manually connect.
Also after about half an hour or so my M3X shuts down. Have I changed a sleep or idle setting?

I may have solved it. I'm on Virgin WiFi and was recently sent a plug in WiFi extender. I just switched it off and the M3X connected automatically. Maybe there was a clash. I'll keep checking and come back if the problem persists.
