I didnt say anything of the sort. I offered to let you demo mine, then I saw you were in Toronto, so I corrected, that I couldnt let you demo mine..... Yes, Headphone Bar, is not just a nice site, it's a nice little store and he's a genuinely nice guy. Any correct, he hasn't carried Shanling since the M5s

My bad, I miss read your post, long day and I didn't have my glasses on. Headfoneshop in Toronto is a tiny little counter in the front of a shipping store and somehow they manage to cram alot of different products into the display case and behind the counter. The guy is super nice and I have bought some stuff from him in the past. I am surprised he is the only dealer here selling the M5S. He once told me he survives on selling the expensive A&K DAP's to the financial guys from Bay Street.

So are you saying you have stores that carry Shanling products in Vancouver? I am familiar with headphonebar as I have visited the site often. They don't carry Shanling products as I just checked their site. There is in fact one dealer in Toronto that still sells the M5S but no other Shanling products. The others that did like avgearshop and electronicsforless don't anymore. There use to be a few dealers that carried Shanling home audio gear but they don't anymore. Such a shame as Fiio products are sold everywhere in Canada. It would be great if Shanling could use the same Canadian distributor as Fiio.
Sorry if there was a misunderstanding.
Last time I went to Headphonebar, it was more less 3 years ago. At that time they had some Shanling products, as bluetooth receiver and the M2s that I got for my 30. There was also an FiiO on their table for demo (the one with the wheel like iPod, but fun fact the button in the middle was broken due to intense demo use I guess), and that was on their website too. But as I said, it was 3 years ago! (early January, 2018)

For folks looking at alternative music apps, UAPP is quite good. It costs but cheaply. I think EQ capability is also extra which I don’t use. When I used Hiby app last year it also had minor, persistent issues with gapless playback, although mseb eq is very nice. FiiO app gave me issues with scanning, I couldn’t get it to recognize a few albums here and there. Zero issues UAPP.

Amusing anecdote! Although, I gotta say, I recently bought SR25 and love it, although it is their most affordable model. I do wish I had “Bay Street” means enough to get an AK 2000 dap 😀

Thank you for your feedback, still waiting for my first android-based DAP (M3X), to be delivered, I was already looking at some apps playing gapless. You have convinced me to take this UAPP!

Not sure it could change something but... have you already updated your M3X to the latest release available (1.3)? If not, here the link: https://en.shanling.com/article-MarchUpdateAndro.html

FYI that's also a concern to me because I plan to connect my M3X (still in transit) to the WH-1000XM3 and WH-1000XM4, especially in LDAC mode.
Please, let me know if your issue disappears with the 1.3 update, thank you.

Someone can check if M3X can connect to any Bluetooth Headphones?

I tried again. Sony disconnected after 5 second
TRN Ba20s connect first time, playing 5 sec and after disconnected and impossible to connect . only delete device and pairing again

maybe @Shanling can help?

You should pin @Shanling I guess they can help you quickly with this, as not a lot of people already got their M3X, it is pretty new and some people are still waiting for their model, I ordered mine on Audiophonic but delivery will not be before May (for instance).

Yeah for the Bay Street guys it is more about the bling than the audio quality. That is one thing A&K did, they established the really high end market for DAP's. Even if I had the cash to burn I probably wouldn't buy one. I am just to practical to spend that much on a battery powered product I use when travelling. I spend my money on a high end home system where I can listen to music in an optimal environment and have a kick ass home theatre to boot.

Hello @Shanling I received my M3X today and early impressions are that I'm generally impressed with what you've done for this pricepoint. It does, as they say, "Punch Way Above It's Weight". I do have a couple of questions and if they've already been asked and answered, my apologies:
  1. I know that dual dac is only a selectable option from the SE 3.5 jack because on the 4.4 Bal it's always in dual DAC mode - but - when I'm listening from the 4.4 the DAC button still give 2 options: DAC and DAC Turbo. What is DAC Turbo and does it actually do something?
  2. Is "Prime Mode" more battery efficient than "Android Mode" if I'm only using Shanling Music App or Hiby Music App? or is the batter drain about the same?
I've got one comment / request also. This is not a complaint, just a wish list item:

I actually prefer the Hiby Music App. It's easier to navigate, automatically imports playlists, and of course offers gapless. The advantage of the Shanling Native App is that its present in in Prime Mode. I hope your team can set up similar functionality to the Hiby App. Your device rocks ( more impressions shortly) but I'm stunned at how good a player you've built at this pricepoint. It "Punches Way Above It's Weight"
Glad to hear you like it!

1. It still lists the options for single/dual DAC, but it has no effect on 4.4mm output.
"Dac Turbo" is just a mistake of designer, who copied in the Turbo graphic from TUrbo gain. SO when it shows DC Turbo, it just means dual DAC mode.

2. Yes, it's slightly more battery efficient, even if you run just the Shanling app.

M3X works fine with Sony headphones.
Please make sure that you have Bluetooth Amp mode disabled.
