I've got a large collection of music. I tend to like to have it all with me for some reason. One day I'll get past this, but it's not going so well at the moment. Yes, I keep different stuff on each one. In my case, I've around 130 gigs on one and 90 gigs on the other. Not flac, it's a mix of MP3 and AAC256. I buy flac or physical copies and then convert it, but I'm not much of a critical listener and just enjoy the tunes.

I just ordered an N3 with a 200gb card. If that overflows at some point I may just attach a 1 terabyte usb type C ssd drive to it.

can't you just buy a 256gb sd card? @@

whether you want or need balanced output, whether you want or need the lower output impedance etc. If not the M2s will do just fine. Actually the M2s is close to be the perfect on-the-go DAP.

Or a 400GB card which is available now.
Sorry didn't put in enough info there. I will use the DAP to pair with my upcoming Harmony 8.2, so I guess I do need the lower output impedance. However, in the review here http://theheadphonelist.com/over-so-small-a-thing-a-review-of-the-shanling-m2s/3/, Pinky met no issue with M2S, which is quite weird tbh. I'm deciding between Cayin N3, Shanling M2, M2S and M3S btw

A 200 GB card and another N3 is cheaper so the new 400 GB card isn't a great value proposition for people who are not starting from scratch. In fact, given that a 200 GB Sandisk card is $78 and a 400 GB is $250, it isn't a great value proposition for anybody at the moment.

I could, but it's not real cost effective. The 200 gig cards have the best price to storage ratio IMO at the moment. Plus, I already had three of them prior to the 256 and now 400 gig cards so it's cheaper to buy another DAP than a larger card. With that said, I'll probably end up getting a 400 gig card once the price comes down. It's hard to justify $250 for that little card. Of course, I used to think that $78 was crazy for the 200 gig cards...lol

I meant what is the purpose of owning two? Different albums on the two players? Having one permanently in your car? Having a loaner?
Well, the real question is.. why not? I'd buy an extra M2S, if I could hide it from my wife.

That titanium version is very, very tempting.....

In his defense, I think he was talking about RAM. But, yeah. :joy:

I think I found my new profession, I am going to become a psychologist who specializes in treating audiophiliacs (my new clinical term). You could be my first patient.

So tell me Mr. Malevolent why do you feel the need to hide your DAP compulsion from your wife? :deadhorse:

Just noticed M3s is even smaller than the new ZX300 and Cowon Plenue R and much more affordable than either.... "mid-price android-free actually-pocketable" DAP segment getting super interesting.
