So price is about $70 US higher than the M6, I hope it isn't priced to high to compete. It may sound better than the M6? but is that enough to overcome everything the M6 offers. It will be interesting to see how it stacks up when released and reviewers compare it to the M6 which you know they will.

fiio M6 uses single Soc chip for everything...M2x has proper design architecture with separate amp and DAC section, M2x should sound better but who knows..it will probably be competing with whatever fiio new DAP revealing soon.

Is there any plan to include capabilities tailored to podcast or audiobook listeners? Specifically, bookmarking of long files (preferably automatic bookmarking), speed control of files with genre tags of Audiobook or Podcast, and separating podcast/audiobook files from the main music database - all are features that were available in a $40 Sansa player circa 2003, but seem to have been ignored in the modern DAP revival.

Not everyone carries a smartphone, so the response of "just use your phone" is not helpful. Also, the same rationale that makes us want standalone music players applies to standalone spoken-word players - battery life, lack of phone-based notifications interrupting listening, etc.

At this point and until proven otherwise (also given the experience with the m0) unless audiobook support is included at launch I really wouldn't hold your breath on that one sadly. Also at this point it seems that only a***e do dedicated audiobook players out of the box unless you want to use third party apps.

And even on the Android players, the trend is to not whitelist podcast apps. There may be seven different streaming services whitelisted, five of which only exist in East Asia, but somehow the very simple option of whitelisting even a simple podcast app remains elusive.

wounder if M2x will be able to play tidal offline...

Unfortunately Tidal offline is only possible with native Tidal app for Android. Since M2x uses our own build in app, in cooperation with Tidal, offline playback is not possible.

thanks for the pics... looks great... so, leather case is included this time? it looks quite big =)
The leather case indeed came in the box (not a separate item). The size is certainly more substantial than the M0, which is of course diminutive in size. I think the M2x has a really nice size for a portable device and is very similar in size to my AK70 (mk I), the M2x is a bit thicker, but nearly identical in height and width.

Leather case is sold separately.

Only for reviewers it was packed together.

How is the sounds vs M3s, M5s and others?
Unfortunately I do not have the M3s or M5s to compare with and have not yet had time to compare with the M0, as the M2x just came in. I did spend a little time listening with my Empire Ears Phantom and I am impressed by how clean it is even from balanced on high gain (the Phantom are quick to pick up hiss). The overall sound comes across as quite neutral, but I would have to compare with my other DAPs to be able to say more.

@Shanling

Will this M2X launch with a mobile phone app to control the DAP from a phone, as Fiio link does? The lack of an app is really holding it back (and other in the range too)..

And what is Europe release date?

Our app is still in beta, not sure about final release date.

M2X will be available in Europe during May.
