Shanling M1s - Compact Portable Player (Discontinued)

Hello,
I don't know if I'm the only one to encounter this bug: the playback doesn't start (coming out of standby or after switching on). I have to restart the M1s sometimes 2 or 3 times for it to start. I've tried with 2 different memory cards and tried a reset. This bug has been present for several firmwares (currently 2.5).
Has anyone had this problem before?

Never had this. Only have my player since Firmware 2.4.

From my experience with other brands (present on the Head-Fi Forums), Shanling is one of the best at responding to the user and releasing firmware updates to resolve issues.
IMHO, it's worth praising (especially in these frenetic days of successive new product launches where the buyers are the final testers).

Yesterday I tested my Shanling M1s compared to my FiiO K5 Pro ESS, on my desktop with HD660S. (Seems like barley a delay and good for watching movies)

Really I am more than surprised.
Watched some movie part which contained a dance with music.

This little dwarf really destroyed the FiiO.
Everyone was more spacious more dynamic while also feeling less stressful for your ears. And also it sounded more natural in general, plus the volume was more than enough even on the 3.5mm.

What a beast in sheep’s clothing.
Already dreaming about a desktop amp from Shanling.

Are you using it with wired headphones, Bluetooth, USB DAC?



M1s can act as a DLNA renderer. By you need a separate device to act as the controller

I have turned on Synclink and DLNA Feature on M1S and my Samsung Galaxy act as a Controller via Eddict Player but I cannot access "NAS Tab" on Eddict Player?

Most likely issue is due to the the files being in DST compression

My M1S has arrived and I must confess that I am positively impressed !
It will be my pocket DAP joining the other big brothers at home (iBasso DX320 and Sony WM1A).
My first impressions are really positive, but there is one thing that intrigues me:
After scanning the 1TB card there are a few files (randomly between artists and albums) that simply are not recognized (unknown Artist or Album).
All my other Dap's (portable or desktop) have not had any problems with these files. Furthermore, I don't find any specific reason or common attribute between these files.

You are combining two different features. Turn off synclink, that's for controlling local playback from card on M1s.
Simply make sure both M1s and your phone are connected to same Wi-Fi, then try using any DLNA app and you should see M1s as an end point.

You have to use Digital Filters, there is no option to turn that off, it's basic function of the DAC.

I personally use Liner Fast Roll off on pretty much all devices.

Please are you on latest firmware V2.5?

I'm going to send via PM one file as an example of those that M1S does not recognize.

Reporting another issue with M1S regarding Bluetooth connection:
I was able to connect BT Headphones (Focal Bathys and BW PX8) but with Earphones there is a common problem: both iFi Go Pod and ATH-TWX9 the connection is established but the sound only comes out from the right channel (on both earphones) !
Latest firmware V2.5 is installed.

I know this isn’t a IEM channel but I’m specifically searching some for this player.

Should be in the range between 200-300€/$ can be slightly above too.

I’m really looking for good texture and thicker sound plus most importantly for instruments and vocals.

So far I’ve come across:
Simgot EA1000
AFUL Performer 8/5
Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite
Blessing 3 (heard they are a step weaker)

Any recommendations which path to go?

Performer 8 is definitely highly regarded (I haven't heard it). You might want to open this can of worms on the Discovery thread, too.

I have dropouts (sound cutouts) when using my Shanling M1s on Windows 11 DAC Mode (after like 5-10mins playing?). Am i doing something wrong? Just installed the driver and thats it?! @Shanling
