Shanling M1s - Compact Portable Player (Discontinued)

Just picked up this little gem. Smaller than I expected and big sound. I think it's at least as good as the LG V series phones I had (v10, v30, v60). Plan to use it on walks and while exercising. Updated firmware to 2.3. Very happy with this. Now I can add Shanling to my collection.

I just picked this up and have about 30 days to decide if it goes back to Amazon. I shouldn't hold on to it hoping for a firmware update -- too bad for me as I really like it. I'm a Qobuz subscriber too so the Tidal update means nothing to me.

With Shanling if I scan the SD card it does not find any album and cover. I can only see the files by entering the menu on Sd. When I go to play the tags of the music files seem incomplete (no album, no art cover, no artist), why?

Can you add the alphabet wheel to artist view? Some people report it only works with track view.

On the shanling Q1 alphabet wheel works in all except folder view.

My player recently arrived. I updated the firmware to V2.3. Some bugs are very annoying. After using the control buttons on the bluetooth headphones, the player does not respond to the physical buttons on the front. Or responds with a delay. When I turn on the screen, the song forward button rewinds the entire song to the end. The touch screen also stops working. Only restarting the device helps. This happens on Soundpeats air3 deluxe HS, Edifier W800 BT, Bluedio T7, and Edifier X6. I know that this equipment is more to be used with wired headphones. However, for walking and running outside, I prefer wireless. Less of a problem is turning off the device. Can it be turned off when the screen is off? For example, holding the volume wheel longer? Because you have to take the device out of your pocket to turn it off. I also don't see an option to automatically connect to bluetooth headphones. Every time you turn on the device you have to dig through the options to connect. This is what I noticed after three hours of use. Previously I was using xduoo 3 II which is more budget friendly. It didn't cause any of the problems listed. So when buying a theoretically better device, I can feel disappointed with the functionality.

How does M1s compare to Hiby R2 and R3 Pro?
I am thinking of getting on of these three to use HibyLink or Synclink to use my smartphone as a remote and keep a small DAP in my pocket.

SyncLink - what does "Currently in Bluetooth control mode(Bluetooth earphone mode does not support Synclink function)" in Eddict Player mean? I'm trying to SyncLink to the M1s with no luck. M1s - turned on Bluetooth and turned on SyncLink. Any help would be appreciated. - also, my M1s screen is freezing in this mode. The latest firmware installed -- V2.3 at the time of this post. The phone's OS is Android.

Edit: findings. If the M1s sleeps, the SyncLink disconnects and can't be restarted. If the M1s freezes, the SyncLink does not work (need to turn off the M1s and on again.[long press power]). If the Eddict Player connect fails, then the M1s may be frozen, or it is time to start over:
1.) Kill the Eddict Player;
2.) Restart the M1s; 3.) Turn off the SyncLink toggle on M1s 4.) Turn off Bluetooth on M1s; 5.) toggle on Bluetooth on M1s 6.) toggle on SyncLink on M1s;
7.) Launch Eddict Player; 8.) Launch SyncLink on Eddit Player.

If it connects to the M1s at this point, you are good to go. Do not pause music long enough for the M1s to sleep, or you will be hosed again.

Noted the issues on the Bluetooth controls.

If you are unable to confirm the power off on the screen, only other option is to keep holding down the button up to 15s, that's forced power off. But be aware, if you power it off this way, the player might not remember last connected headphones or last played song.

The Bluetooth headphones should be connecting automatically.

Ignore that first line and simply turn on the "SyncLink Controller" in the app to start using SyncLink. Then Bluetooth devices will show up in the list, click on the M1s.

Please which app version are you using? We are not seeing such freezing issues from other users.
