Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6
Jul 7, 2021 at 10:47 PM Post #6,226 of 6,415
Hi folks,
I bought the M0 roughly 2 years ago and it worked like a charm. Then I didn't use it for 3 or 4 weeks and once I wanted to turn it on again it stopped interacting at all, black screen only. Sometimes when turning it on it shows a white screen, but nothing more. It doesnt make a difference whether an SD card is inserted or not, the reset button didn't change anything as well.
Does anyone have a hint if the device is recoverable?

Cheers,
rhalina
One thing to try is recovery firmware: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1B3u0OczfiPvB4nzP7McqnvURjV8uxeMj/view?usp=sharing

Download it, unpack it and copy the whole "recovery-update" folder to root/main folder of MicroSD card. Put it into M0 and try to turn it on.

I agree. My M0's battery has been barely scraping past 4 hours of playback for almost a year now. Never abused, over charged, dropped etc. It's a shame such a shoddy battery was used in it. Shanling should offer free battery replacements for a detect that occurred within months of warranty expiry.
thats basically asking them to extend the warranty

Exactly this.

I bought mine from Aliexpress so I know there's no warrranty and I never asked for one, I just buy another when it breaks.

However as it currently stands the quality of the product is clearly lacking, and if customers don't object to this it won't change.

So trying to verify here. To do anything, track wise, while music is playing and the screen is off, I have to...
1. press the button
2. swipe right on the screen
3. tap the screen
4. and then finally get to skip or go back.

Is there a much quicker way to do this?

And did we every get a full functioning app? Been a while since I kept up with this.

You can skip #2 by turning off the lock screen.

Also you can set wheel shortcuts for double/riple click to control playback

You can use remote SyncLink controls with our Eddict Player app.

Thanks. Didn't even realize I had the lock screen on. And the double/triple should work well.

App wise, I meant more of the music organization, Playlist creation and so forth. Thought that was the plan early on, and it was just taking longer to get up and running.

Along those lines, did a cue feature or play once feature ever get legs where it can stop after each track and we hit play for it to start up again?

Still bummed this device has been relegated to a workout only player because of the above two features. The app I kinda banked on as it would allow me to make Playlists on the phone and transfer music from the phone. The cue/play once feature I just had my fingers crossed as it would be simple to implement. Wish Cowon would come out with a player this size.

So I'm guessing that's a no on both. Might have to look at the Unihertz Jelly 2. About as tiny as a phone gets, can use the android music apps, has a card slot and sits well at the waist for working out. Shame Palm didn't put a card slot on their new mini phone. I bet if LG would've made a similar phone to the other two with the sabre chip, they'd still be selling phones. ha.

Can confirm Shanling M0 battery problems. When I bought it I had to send it to warranty repair because the battery didnt hold up more than 1-2 hours. Now, 2 years later, the battery died and only works plugged in the computer, and after a few minutes it gets super hot trying to charge that battery and dies after I unplug it. So the battery killed my M0 and warranty is over.

I contacted Shenzhenaudio and they told me they dont provide Shanling M0 batteries anymore. Then I contacted Headphoniaks, the local reseller and they told me they cant provide replacement batteries because laws prohibit sending stand-alone batteries over plane.

So I guess replacement batteries are not avaiable after all.

I see, this is bit tricky. We have the batteries for sale, but can't affect the limitations of the shipping companies.
